I have one in my sig. I looked over the lyrics and realized i'd been singing about a third of that song wrong. If we ever get that Hip tribute cover off the ground, I plan on doing a version with my lyrics for comedic effect.

I honestly believe that the hip intentionally manufacture slippery lyrics that can be misheard and still make perfect sense...I love one line in nashville and how one can hear several perfectly coherent lines:

This guy is the limit.
or
Disguise the limit.
or
The sky is the limit.

I play music with some friends and sometimes we cover hip tunes. The singer brought in downloaded lyrics to M@W and I laughed flippantly at the "olive oil" line. I was like "stupid internet, its 'when the sunlight hits the autobahn, don't hesitate'". I thought I'd double check when I got home in the cd lyrics :oops:

I do not recall exactly *what* I heard the first time I heard "Something On", but I was sure that it was not 'your imagination's havin' puppies', as I was convinced it was an utterly non-sensical phrase. My mother still lords that over me on occassion.

Also, I heard 'hang your letters low' as opposed to 'hang your lanterns low'.

First of all, let me point out that it is Springtime in Vienna. (Some of us listen to the band. Others live the life. :wink: )

Second, in the not-so-embarrassing category, I thought the first line of Train Overnight was Unloaded the variables from under "the John Lennon fans." Not germ-led advance. One cryptic phrase replaces another, so not so bad.

BTW, sunlight makes a rainbow when it hits olive oil, hence the M@W lyric (I assume).
