Moment of truth tonight. First show of the official NFPA tour. Is it weird that I'm kinda nervous about what the setlist is gonna look like? I suppose show #2 will probably give us a better indication of what we're in for. If it's identical to show 1, then that's not a good sign. I've got my fingers crossed.

I am about to pee myself with glee. 15 more minutes of class until we're on our way to the Cleve. It will be interesting to see how they work their way through nearly 30 years of material. :jump I'm going to remain cautiously optomistic!

Didn't know the tour started tonight until you said this! Have fun! Hope you get some Coconut Cream Wink

Listening to 'We Are The Same' today; man I hope they keep The Last Recluse in the set.

If they play Coconut Cream, I'm blaming you. I do hope some WATS stuff stays in rotation. It is a killer album.

Good luck man, you'll get a good idea whether you want to check or not from other threads.

Other than that I dont really see the lights matching up to anything. A hamster could work the Hips light show.

I've seen every tour since the mid 90s and the Hip have always had either first class lighting or a capable lightman who knew all the songs and cues (when using the house light system). A few of tours, the lightshow was unreal (phantom power arena tour and the 09 club tour)... However, the lights would have nothing to do with inserting some album cuts in the setlist....not that complicated.
Exactly. I can't believe that lighting would be used as an excuse for static setlists. I know it's an extreme example, but Phish have arguably some of the most varied setlists in rock, as well very engaging and complex light shows. Mind you, their lighting director (Chris Kuroda) is a legend, but it still strikes me as a very poor reason to not vary a setlist.

My hope is that this "setlist" was meant for festival-type gigs only and will not be indicative of the upcoming tour.

CK5 melts faces as he ad libs the controls of the inFAMOUS Mothership... If the setlist is static due to your lighting guy, you got the wrong lighting guy...

One thing I will say though, they do go through an inordinate amount of equipment changes between songs...

Indeed. This thread seems rather silly now, doesn't it?

No kidding. That setlist from Cleveland is unreal. I had a feeling they'd likely change it up a bit from the greatest hits festival set, but I certainly wasn't expecting that drastic of a change. Eldorado, The Rules, Greasy Jungle, Escape, and 50 MC? Amazing! Can't wait to see what they dust off next.

They didn't play NOIS? That must be a first!

Never mind just no NOIS...no Blow, Courage or Little Bones. When was the last time they didn't play ONE of these songs? Never?

I'll preface this by saying I've been a critic of what The Hip's live show had become although I do like most of their hits. My complaint was the band largely ignored WHY a lot of this have stuck with them over the years. This setlist totally brought me back in. Even if they played this set every show of the US tour I'd like it, it's a good representation of the songs that kept me interested in this band.

Can't wait for that Fargo show now with front row seats in an 800 person venue!
