We may not know the final outcome of today's voting until morning, but the results so far make one thing clear.
When the dust settles from today's contests, we will maintain our substantial lead in delegates. And thanks to millions of people standing for change, we will keep adding delegates and capture the Democratic nomination.
We knew from the day we began this journey that the road would be long. And we knew what we were up against.
We knew that the closer we got to the change we seek, the more we'd see of the politics we're trying to end -- the attacks and distortions that try to distract us from the issues that matter to people's lives, the stunts and the tactics that ask us to fear instead of hope.
But this time -- this year -- it will not work. The challenges are too great. The stakes are too high.
Americans need real change.
In the coming weeks, we will begin a great debate about the future of this country with a man who has served it bravely and loves it dearly. And we will offer two very different visions of the America we see in the twenty-first century.
John McCain has already dismissed our call for change as eloquent but empty.
But he should know that it's a call that did not begin with my words. It's the resounding call from every corner of this country, from first-time voters and lifelong cynics, from Democrats and Republicans alike.
And together you and I are going to grow this movement to deliver that change in November.

You republicans are all so predictable. No doubt your party will start with the traditional loyalty oath sign in at the door. Then cool-aid drinks served in the closet promptly fallowed by the illegal invasion of the neighbors house.

Actually, instead of the conducting illegal invasions, we sit around and run computer models to predicting how much higher each of our taxes would be under various Democratic leadership scenarios. :mrgreen:
(I've already purchased some short-term high-yield bonds in preparation for Obamarama.)
Amazingly, I've suffered one tax-raising blow levied by Obamarama already.....and we still have 8 months before the general election:
There was a gigantic levy being sought by Cincy Public Schools, which got absolutely obliterated on the November 2007 ballot. CPS had horribly mismanaged funds and dug themselves a huge fiscal hole, and instead of presenting a plan to streamline their budget, reappropriate spending, and allow the public to see how and where they are wasting our dollars, they decided to just slap a 10-mill levy on the ballot.
And of course, it failed miserably....becase what kind of idiot is going to choose to throw more of his or her hard-earned money at a school system when they couldn't manage it worth a damn in the first place, and wouldn't try to convince you that they would spend it more wisely this time around? [Answer: Certain Cincy Democrats, apparently....more on that in a minute]
Of course, CPS scurried around got the levy back onto the March ballot (this time at 7.89-mills). Lo and behold, thanks to the Obama/Clinton circus, local precincts had record Democratic turnout. And sure enough, these left-leaning newbie voters, squinting in the glare of the bright, new world of "polling precincts" they had just discovered outside their Caves of Apathy, blindly checked the "For the Levy" box on their ballots (because 'children are our future', right? :roll
The levy passed....by a margin of freaking 51 to 49 percent.
So Obama and Clinton have effectively increased my property taxes by about $275 a year....and that's just the very beginning

Oh my God! What kind of monster attempts to educate children?
Don't they know that privet corporations could do a better job implementing "No child left a dime"? Sorry, that's "No child left behind". Notice the crazy end time reference there? Yeah, those stupid little sinners are just going to be tossed into the pits of hell when the rapture comes. Why should you pay $275?

Do you even fricking own your own home? I can't speak for Esthete's property tax rates, but in my neck of the woods, my mom pays around $600 dollars a quarter in school property taxes and while the school district is pretty good, the powers that be on the school board are insisting on a $50 dollar per quarter increase to pay for "administrative" costs, whatever those may be. Rather than open the books for the taxpayers see where those administrative costs are going to go, they are claiming the increase is needed "for the good of the children". :roll:
Here's a clue why the public school system is failing our kids (and its not because of charter schools or No Child Left Behind); stagnant bureacracy, combined with fear of competition from charter schools and failure to focus money and resources on subjects like math and science that will give kids a career path and help our nation become more competitive with other nations that dont waste money.

Actually, watching Jenna invent new obscenities that will eventually be added to Webster's Dictionary and throw things at the tv set while Hillary and Barack go at it would be the most entertaining part of the evening.... :lol: :lol:
Although I sympathize with her anger, coz it would be well placed if Hillary manages to finess her way to the nomination using every dirty trick in the political book to secure the superdelegates needed to win even though Obama has the majority support of the Democratic electorate.

Yes I own my home. I also have my own friends, credit cards and keys.
I totaly agree with your mom.
What can I say? I had a "come to jebus" moment. I have renounce all things good and become a republican. I was swayed by the use of neat code words like "new voter". We had a family of "new voters" move into our neighborhood. I don't pay all these taxes so I can live next door to a "new voter". I'm considering throwing a "republican party" and liberating their property.

Right - NOWHERE.
My complaint, Tim, is not about the concept funding education with my tax dollars. My complaint is that it makes ZERO sense to REWARD horrible waste and mismanagement of public funds by blindly throwing MORE tax dollars at the district which sqandered the ample funds we give them in the first place.
How did you miss that??
We have a civic duty to educate our children. We must all pay our share. And I do. I own a humble 1,100 square foot home, and pay $1,200 to the school system every year.
But CPS has WASTED that, and now, instead of reforming its practices, instead of allowing the public to review of their books, instead of making cuts and streamlining the budget, they just come ask me to pay $1,475 a year instead of $1,200.
And apparently, a majority of of the voting public is too blind to see how insanely stupid that is. The problem is not that they don't get enough tax dollars from district property owners to stay afloat. The problem is that they're mismanaging the money they do get.
When is it ever anything but a DUMB IDEA to try to rectify the problems caused by fiscal irresponsibility by THROWING MORE MONEY at it?

It's not "code", smartass. The turnout for this March election was DOUBLE the turnout for the November election. And I got news for you -- it wasn't becasue of the CPS levy on the ballot.
It was because urban precincts turned out in five times the numbers that they ever do just because of "Obamarama". Thousands of people who have never graced a polling booth came out to vote because in their minds, they have a dog in the fight.
And since they bothered to come vote at all, they figured they might as well check the box on the ballot beside "more money for bad schools", even though they have little grasp of the REAL issues at play...because....hell...."helping schools" is a good thing, right? After all, we're renters, not owners....and it won't cost us a dime!
