that's pretty fucked considering they didn't get much back for him...


the thing about that is though, Halak was never really part of the plan, just a pleasant surprise rather. They clearly didn't want to take the risk of giving him a big raise, so they're gonna go with their guy, Price. Tough to swallow after how he stood on his head for us this spring, but i will reserve my judgement on this until i get to see how it pans out, no use in getting upset over nothing right now.

Obviously, this has to do with them either re-signing Plekanec, going after a big FA (Marleau, Kovalchuk, ect.), or preparing to make a trade that will see them take on another large salary. This is just the first domino.

after reading up on them a bit, Eller and Shultz both seem like they can be contributors to this team in the very near future. Eller should be good to go for this season, and Shultz looks like a very spolid prospect. Just need Price to step his game up this year and the habs will be in their like a dirty shirt again come playoff time.

habs resign plekanec to a 6yr/30mil deal, and darche to a 1yr/550k deal.

not that they will sign all of them, probably not bergeron, metropolit, and maybe not sk, unless they figure they need him to keep his bro happy, or maybe just to trade them as a package for a bigger top six forward.

While i like the resignings of both Christensen & Prospal, not sure what to make of the deal for Derek Boogaard. They gave him a 4 year deal worth $6.5 million! I personally would of rathered them re-sign Jody Shelley, who played really well for the Rangers down the stretch, and ended up signing with Philly for less money & term, $3.3 million over 3 years. I like the addition of Martin Biron as well for $875k a year.

With Boogaard & McIlrath on board, the 2 newest Rangers...The Boogeyman & The Undertaker.

I'd like to see the Pens take a chance with Paul Kariya. Obviously not the same player he was 10 years ago with the Ducks, but i think if you put him in a situation like Pittsburgh, he could still be a valuable offensive player.

Im not sure what Pitts cap is like right now but along that same line, im surprised they dont give Afinogenov a shot on crosby or malkin's wing, he scored 61 points (24/37) with Atlanta last year, if they can afford him im sure he could hit 30 playing with guys like that no problem. Kariya could be an option as well, but i hear he's going back to Anaheim..


Im not even going to mention the Habs for fear i might throw up in my mouth again.

He doesn't have the same scoring touch he did ten years ago, that's for sure. But I watched him closely as his tenure in St. Louis coincided with mine. The guy is a hard worker and that's infectious on a team. Granted, he was out with injuries a lot, but he's a spark plug for the team when he's in, even if he's putting fewer in the back of the net.

A very exciting first night in the NHL last night.

The Leafs beat the Habs on stellar goaltending by Giguere and a nice goal by MacArthur. The Oilers dominate the Flames, and one of the dirtiest dangles I've ever seen by Eberle. An exciting night on HNIC indeed.

The Rangers run of good luck injury-wise in recent seasons appears to have come to an end! Marian Gaborik seperated his shoulder last night and is expected to miss up to 4 weeks, Chris Drury re-broke his finger and is out another 6 weeks, Vinny Prospal had knee surgery last night and is out indefinitely, and Erik Christensen is out with a groin/knee injury. That's the captain & 3 of the top 6 forwards.
