yeah..i'm the only one who's called the leafs old...and did i ever claim that the nucks were young?? no..once again you stuff words into peoples mouths..i guess i don't have the time to sit in front of a computer all day and look up stats to prove the leafs are a whopping one year on average younger than the nucks...you can be a dickhead sometimes

Yeah, going to Yahoo sports, opening up the Leafs and Canucks rosters and adding up 23 years of birth and then dividing by 23 (two times) took hours. I'm fairly certain it took me about as much time to shoot down your lame argument as it did for you to type it up. But hey, I can't say I'm surprised that "waaaaaaaaaaa, you've got too much time on your hands" is your best defense.

Actually, I can be a dickhead most of the time - but that's generally to people who deserve it. I've told you before and I'll tell you again, if you can't take it, why do you bother? This discussion had nothing to do with you or tiger. It was a discussion between Mike and I about the Leafs' fortunes this season. But you and your boyfriend had to chime in, and when I came back with facts that you don't like, you start to whine about how mean I am.

Since you are so sensitive I think you should stick to discussions that (a) are directed at you specifically and (b) are only about topics you agree with. Otherwise your whining makes you seem like a little suckhole.

Is anyone watching the Sens/Leafs game tonight? I'm watching the election coverage and wast just wondering if anyone has any updates on Carlo Colaiacovo.

My name is Ryan MacPherson...and i've played on a few rec teams now. Started out playing with my cousin Terry for Flat River, then played with Wood Islands for a bit, and now this year i'm on Lukes (Luke Rooney). And i know Chris Panton very well, went to school with him for years & played hockey with him from squirts right through midget. His father Wayne & my father were actually our coaches for a lot of those years as well.

I heard Colaiacovo was going to be alright, just a concussion and some stitches. Better game tonight than Saturday, a lot tougher including a good Neil-Domi tilt, and the Leafs made it close at the end. Plus Domi gets a Gordie Howe hat trick.

How to not lose to the Leafs in the playoffs? Beat them 8 times in the regular season and make them miss the playoffs

Ryan... Rangers fan, eh? Well they have surprised me a lot. Jagr seems to have the fire back, and they have some good rookies in Prucha and Lundqvist. Tom Renney deserves consideration as coach of the year.

As for my Leafs... man it's gettin' ugly! At least they kept it close with the Sens on Monday... those 8-0, 8-2, 7-0 woodshed type beatings were getting old, fast. I have a real hate-on for the Sens, but they are one talented team... let's see how they do in the playoffs this year. Anyway, Belfour looks like he's aging right in front of my eyes... man it's painful to watch. Tellqvist looks like the better goalie to me right now... maybe he should get more playing time. I was worried when McCabe got hurt... as much as the Leafs have succeeded in the past and this year to some degree with injuries, losing a d-man of his quality on an already thin blueline means huge problems. I hope he's back soon.

And hey cfern, nice to see you back! Although some don't share that sentiment, I guess. Been reading your running battle with opiated and tiger... yikes! I guess in that month off you had everything all bottled up, and so just had to unleash it all at once! :lol: Anyway... note to self, make sure facts are completely straight before getting into a hockey argument with cfern. :thumb:

Opinions are opinions and I've got no problem with that. It's when people try to pass off opinions as fact that bugs me.

Regardless, I'd like to reiterate here that this whole thing started as a discussion between MikeS and I, but Tiger and Opiated felt the need to get involved. What's that saying about the heat in the kitchen? :lol:

Yeah i've been more than happy with their play so far this year. Lundqvist (20-6-5, 2.14gaa, .927sp) has been amazing, but i can't say i'm surprised. Definitely didn't expect his numbers to be quite that good, especially the record, but us Ranger fans have been waiting to see him for a few years now. Even though he was a late round pick in 2000, he's came in very, very highly touted definitely would of been with the Rangers last year had it not been for the lockout. Ranger fans fully expected him to be our #1 this season, so it was a bit of a shock when Tom Renney declared Kevin Weekes the starter prior to the season....but Lundqvist is now firmly the main guy.

Petr Prucha has been a huge surprise, i didn't even really know much about the guy prior to the season. He was scratched often early in the season, but then he made a name for himself by scoring back-to-back shootout winners, and then has since when on to score 18 goals in 22 games, including 12 on the PP. He's been a very pleasant surprise.
The rookies don't end their though....the Rangers best defensemen? That would be rookie and former top prospect Fedor Tyutin, whom will also be playing for Russia in the Olympics. Tyutin is showing great poise and is coming on stronger and stronger as the season has progressed. He's is definitely the Rangers franchise defensemen. Renney is using him on the 1st PP unit the last couple of weeks and he is starting to use his bomb from the point. Dominic Moore has been awesome for us too, great forechecker, our best penalty killer (right there with Blair Betts, but Betts is injured right now), chips in on offense, and that HMO line with Hollweg and Ortmeyer has often been our best and is a huge energy line. Another younger guy playing very well for us is ex-Montreal Canadiens first rounder Jason Ward. He's really been coming into his own recently and is playing great.
The veterans have been playing very well too though, Jaromir Jagr, Martin Straka, Michael Nylander, Martin Rucinsky - they are all averaging about a point per game or better, and all of them have been working hard. I wasn't overaly thrilled with the Nylander signing prior to the lockout, especially with so many talented players available this past summer, but i've been thrilled with his play. He's very strong on the puck, a great playmaker, and buys time & space for his linemates (also great in shootouts). Right now he's centering the 2nd line and he's still producing so it gives us two legit scoring lines. He's also been one of the hardest working players all year long. Martin Straka worried me a bit as well, especially with the way he played in Los Angeles, but he just has a chemistry with Jagr and the two have been brilliant together. Sports Illustrated should stick to the three ball sports! They picked the Rangers to finish 30th.

The Leafs are my 2nd favorite team, so yeah it's hard to watch them right now. I don't know what they should do with their goaltending situation. I'd definitely start giving Tellqvist more starts, that's for sure. Eddie is having a horrible season, but hopefully he can turn things around, but it doesn't really look like he's going to. Anytime he seems to have a good game or two, he takes a step back. Tellqvist has looked better this year, but he didn't play overally well in his last start either. That's 6 in a row for the Leafs i think and they are fading fast, something needs to be done and the sooner the better. They really need Lindros, McCabe and Tucker back. They haven't shown the ability to battle through injuries like they have in the past and in which teams like Philadelphia (Forsberg, Desjardins, Primeau, Gagne, Esche, Kapenen, etc..all hurt @ some point this season) have this season. And the way Quinn is handling the Mariusz Czerkawski situation this season is baffling me.

I'm wondering if the end of the Pat Quinn era is almost upon us. That would be too bad because I'd like to see him finally get his name on the Cup. All those years in hockey and no Cups.

As for your Rangers, if it wasn't for the play of Carolina this season I think the Rangers would have to be considered the surprise team of the season. I'm amazed they are doing it with Renny behind the bench. I was living in Vancouver when he was coach of the Canucks and it was clear that he was not respected by the players. I didn't think he'd ever get a second chance.

True. I'm 48% as smart as I think I am. But in 2004 I was only 37% as smart as I thought I was so I'm moving in the right direction. I'm hoping to be as smart as I think I am by 2012.
