Just listening to the new Cracker CD (OK, OK, the digital music files from the new Cracker recording, in AAC format), and there is a line in the song "Everybody Gets One For Free" about the lazy Montreal cop not getting off their ass to help them recover their stolen equipment.

Don't get me wrong - I love everything about Montreal (except the NHL franchise that plays there), but I thought it was kind of funny to hear that when this debate is going on.

I do. What can I say, I'm a traditionalist. I like owning the original artwork/packaging, and I also really enjoy the physical activity of actually walking into a record store and browsing for new music. It's fun!

Yeah, I wouldn't give up the artwork, the packaging, the feel of the actual http://thing in your hands. But I also still own records, by which I mean those black vinyl things. :oops:

And yeah, there's something to be said for shopping for the things. When you wander round the store and find something unexpected. It's easy to buy, say, a Syd Barrett solo disc online, or to order it. It's a lot more rewarding to find it.

ummm, me thinks she was being facetious...

and either way, cd's are great and all... but I can't see the point in carrying them around with me anymore. I cary 500+ cds worth of music around with me pretty much everywhere but they all fit into my pocket. I mean... 200 store bought cds is between $3000-4000 and has gotta weigh like 40 pounds or something.
