No kidding. They've blown out every opponnent they've faced so far, and they look absolutely unbeatable. I think the Fins and Russians will be much tougher, but considering the way Canada is playing right now I think we're definitely the gold medal favorties. Here's hoping!

wrongo on the Finns. Geez. Good for Canada, but this is some of the least engaging hockey I've ever seen. It's just a big ole Canadian steamroller.

good point Chris. After we blew away the slovaks and swedish, I really tuned out most of the German conquest after the third unanswered goal. I am hoping the medal games will be much closer.

The only ones who look like they can play with the Canadians is the Russians. The Ovechkin/Malkin duo is deadly. Im disapointed Slovakia didnt advance, they were the only decent looking team against Canada.

Good test today, and Canada came through! 3-1 Canada over the Czechs, and it should have been more except the Czech goalie, Schwarz, played an outstanding game. To have it that close and see Canada come through with relatively few jitters, it was great to see. Only 11 shots for the Czechs... that's impressive!
So another Canada-Russia final. I haven't seen Russia play, but they are always tough. But this has to be our year... we have the balanced scoring on offence, an OUTSTANDING defence and enough goaltending to get the job done. And Brent Sutter has done a great job with this team.

if those Russians tried to pull that bs against Canada, i'd be willing to bet that they'd be eating out of a straw for a couple of months

I hope we bury the Ruskies. Hard to believe a talented and usually quite disciplined team such as the Russians can turn into a bunch of whiners, divers and hotdogs. As long as the Canucks don't lower themselves to the Russians level of chippiness like the USA did, we should beat them no problem.
Alexander Ovechkin needs a spanking. That guy has a major attitude that needs adjustment. Maybe it'll take him getting into the NHL and get hit a few times by the likes of Chris Pronger etc. Maybe Phaneuf will give him a shoulder tonight so his ass meets the ice hard :rambo:

I am amped for tonight. I was initially concerned with the game time. I thought it started at 4:30 right in the midst of a three hour class. But luckily it starts at 7:30, puck drops at 8:00.
Anyway, I am pumped for tonight, it will be great to party in downtown London, it was crazy during the World Cup and will be just as crazy tonight!
Take home the gold Canada!
