Face Control is one of my favourite albums on 09 so far, so I am more than thrilled to hear that the Handsome Furs have been added to the lineup of this show.

Looks like i will indeed be passing on this one. I picked up my tickets today for Paul McCartney in Halifax on July 11th, so the Virgin Festival would of made it 3 Saturdays in row that i'd be in Halifax, and that's too much. Unless the rest of the line-up overwhelms me, i think i'll have to pass

And just to follow up on the Stone Temple Pilots rumors...it's now listed on their website thay they are playing a gig in California on July 4th, so looks like no STP for Halifax.

Crappy that you won't be here for the Hip, Ryan. But, I have to say, the chance to see McCartney should not be passed up, so good on ya. I'm passing on the $125 price tag because I was fortunate enough to see him 16 years ago at Winnipeg Stadium, back when Linda was still a warbling back-up singer. I remember that the ticket was only $60, and I was 15 rows back on the floor. To this day, it's still the best concert I've ever seen. Have a great time!

Yeah McCartney has been tops on my list of acts i need to see live for a long, long time now. I'm actually supposed to be going to my cousins wedding in Murray River on July 11th, but there is no way i could pass up on Sir Paul...she'll forgive me, i hope

All this talk of Sir Paul has me thinking of going to see him. :what What to do, what to do......????? I dunno, it's something else for me to ponder, anyway. How long are his concerts? I saw a setlist for a Quebec show he did not too long ago and call me crazy but I think I counted 36 songs. :what :what
Ryan, it's too bad you went in on the KISS show... :mrgreen: :? Have fun there, anyway, bud. I'm sure you'll have a few laughs anyway.

if it is down to the hip and mccartney, choose mccartney. the hip tour every other year... how many chances will you get to see mccartney.

Well, I kind of understand your point. Seeing The Hip actually isn't tremendously important for me anymore since I've seen them enough to know what it's like to see them live. Thing is, I don't really like Paul Mccartney as much as it seems you and others seem to like him. I'm not gonna go to a concert just to say, "I saw so and so." Bragging rights are not really important to me in that sense. I like some Beatles songs, don't get me wrong, but I'm not a big fan of Sir Paul. I actually am leaning towards not going to either show to be honest. I'm not sure if I like Paul Mccartney's music enough to drive solo to Halifax and pay around $136 to see him just for the sake of seeing him. At least if I knew a group of people that were going, it'd make it a little more enticing. In the end, a concert is just a concert. I sure as hell wouldn't enjoy Paul any more than I enjoyed the best Hip show or how much I enjoyed seeing Neil. Heck, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't enjoy seeing Paul any more than I enjoyed The Stones. Before it's all said and done, I might end up seeing AC/DC for all I know.

I just saw Metric in Toronto a few weeks ago and they were fantastic live. They should put on a great show to warm up for the Offspring.

For that price, i'd rather see an indoor Hip show in St John...at least there they may have a full set of songs and play for 2 hours solid :thumb:

Virgin Festival Nova Scotia Is Now A FreeFest!
Because of a sudden family medical issue, The Tragically Hip will unfortunately no longer be able to appear at Virgin Festival Nova Scotia. We wish The Hip and their families all the best.
The party is still going to go down, but now it's FREE!
We're inviting everyone and anyone to come to Citadel Hill tomorrow and check out Virgin Festival Nova Scotia for - you guessed it - free. That's a ton of awesome acts, amazing experiences, and a whole bunch of music loving people rocking out without paying a cent.
While we're having fun, we still like to think of people in need. Everyone coming to the Festival is encouraged to bring a non-perishable food or cash donation for the Parker Street Food Bank. All donations will be collected at the Festival gates.
If you've already purchased tickets online or over the phone with Ticket Atlantic your credit card will be automatically refunded. All other refunds (if you purchased in person, at Future Shop, or through futureshop.ca) will be available from Tuesday, July 7 onward at the Metro Centre Box Office.

Just a heads-up, all ticket holders are guaranteed entry into the Festival. If you're heading over without a ticket, entry is subject to capacity so get there early to make sure you get in.
