I think the rumors of a keyboard player joining them for this tour is a good thing. Maybe some background singing and adding some keys to fill out the sound will compliment the newer songs. Nothing wrong with it in my opinion. The hip will always be the Hip no matter how they do things live. I for one am glad they are branching out and trying new things in the studio. Just heard Morning Moon on the radio and it sounds awesome....

I might be among the few that aren't truly thrilled with 'Love Is A First'. It is a catchy, radio-friendly 'alternative' song. But I think that if you take three of their last six radio singles (In View, Lonely End of the Rink, Family Band, Yer Not the Ocean, Morning Moon, and Love is a First), you'd find that 'In View', another heavily synthesized song, never really sounded quite right live, and I have a hard time finding any way to assume that 'Morning Moon' and 'Love Is a First' will sound that great live without significant backup.

I think they'll always be a live band. The studio sound is changing (no one can argue that) but the concerts will always have that Hip feeling. As for the new songs, I'm going to be patient and wait for Montreal. The songs could take on a whole new feeling live or they could not transfer well at all. Not too much longer before we get to find out!!!
