skippy the wonder dog Wrote:I'm going to say what I said last year, in advance: if the Leafs do beat Ottawa, their fans can't claim that they knocked Ottawa out of the playoffs. Ottawa will have knocked themselves out, over a period of months.
A whole host of teams could claim to have scored the decisive blow. Ottawa will be like that girl who hangs around the barracks: no single man could honestly claim to have given her the clap.
I don't disagree with you, but it is always fun to be a fan of the team that wins the game that
officially eliminates a rival from playoff contention.
Case in point: my best friend is a Bruins fan, so when the Bruins beat the Leafs for the second time last week to put the final nail in the coffin, I sure heard about it, even though everyone knows the reason the Leafs missed the playoffs is because of this guy:
Oh wait.........Leaf fans can thank the Bruins for him too.

poor Oilers, they played their hearts out, but it was a classic case of too little too late.
the Canucks will probably manage to miss the playoffs too, they sure as hell haven't looked like a playoff team as of late.
Ottawa will make it i think, but probably get uncerimoniously bounced in the first round...although i wouldn't put it past them to miss, the way they've been stinking it up lately...
question for Cfer...would Ottawa missing the palyoffs this year be considered a bigger choke than the Yankees losing 4 straight to the Red Sox in 04 ?
Washington are going to the palyoffs, and i have a feeling they're going to manage to win the division too!

Oh, it's definitely up there.......but I think the Yankees' choke will always be at the top of the list.

So one team can, in fact, claim to have given the Leafs the clap....

Pittsburgh: Division Champs!!
Great Game tonight between Pens and Flyers. I am glad it was by beating Philly that gave Pittsburgh the Division.
Yeah, I do hate Philly that much.

Sounds like a grand idea, hopefully he will have some of his cheap shot team mates with him and all can be 'taken care' of... :thumb:

Cheap shots and dirty play from the Flyers? How shocking, that organization should be fined heavily by the NHL. enough is enough already

So the Sabres survive another day...
They have like a 0.00000001% chance of making the playoffs.
If they lose, they're out. Gotta take down Montreal and Boston on the road. Backs are against the wall. Gotta say they did this to themselves after blowing too many 3rd period two goal leads. Anyways...this is what makes sports so exciting.
C'mon Boston, Philly, and Washington, you know you can lose out!
Anybody have any predictions as to who will finish 5-8 in the East????

If the Caps are to get in, I think it'll be Philadelphia missing out. Both teams have 2 games left, and the Caps currently have 1 more win.
