Saw JKS with his solo band at the Commodore in Vancouver a few months back, and he was fantastic. Setlist was a perfect mix of new songs and Weakerthans classics.

GAH. You're killing me, smalls. I'm gonna be on a work trip. I'd like to see JKS; I'd love to see Craig solo, however.

Well, as soon as the chicken's done and I've scarfed it the heck down I'll be on my way to the Ex to see someone named William Patrick Corgan. You may know him as Billy.

Been a heady week-and-a-bit for shows - saw Paul Weller and the New Pornos last week. Then Arcade Fire in a couple weeks.

I've dragooned two buddies into seeing it with me. One is somewhat familiar with the Weakerthans stuff; the other is a total noob. I'm hoping to walk out of there with two new superfans. I even told the noob if he buys Reconstruction Site and Winter Wheat from iTunes and listens to them in advance of the show, I'll pay for his ticket.

... and for lovers of the 1990s -- both 54-40 and Rheostatics are playing multi-night residencies at The Horseshoe later this year, pre-Christmas.

Hoping they come to Ottawa Bluesfest... tour dates match up perfectly for them to swing by during the festival.
