Recently bought tickets to see The Northern Pikes 30th Anniversary of Big Blue Sky tour. It's a great pop rock album with some classic 80's Canadian songs like "Teenland" and "Things I Do for Money" and I'm looking forward to seeing it played in full. It's second only to Snow in June as far as Pikes albums go.
Ever hate a song so much that you cant get past it and try and enjoy other songs from the same artist? That me with TPOH.... I hate “im an adult now” so much that I flat out refuse to listen to anything else in their catalogue. Irrational, I know. But that song is one of my all time most hated songs
Yep, one that I can think of off the top of my head is "No Rain" by Blind Melon. I heard that song so much in 1992/93 that I began to despise it and would have been quite happy if I had never heard anything else from Blind Melon the rest of my life. And I wouldn't have if not for one of my brothers turning me on to their second album "Soup", which is an underrated gem of the 90's. As for "I'm an Adult Now", if I was to pick one thing that always bothered me about that song, it's the line "Like some cheese-eating high school boy". It's cringe worthy. Other than that line, I like the song.

We were there, had a great time. Third time seeing RB and I'm still amazed at the Bass and Drums set up, two guys just ripping the roof off that stage. Big QOTSA fan and it was great to see them, but at least from where we were sitting (10 the row right side) the mix was terrible until the last 30 minutes or so. Only two original members from the early albums, but they had some great studio musicians on stage; Thomas Pridgen on Drums (Mars Volta), and Dean Fertita, (The Raconteurs, The Dead Weather, and Beck among others.).
Oh, I am well aware of the lineup. haha I have almost 10,000 posts over on the Jack White forum. I am a huge Dean fan. A very underrated/under the radar musician.
I saw both nights RB opened for the Foos and just saw them in Detroit a few months ago and then last night. Their setlist and whole "routine" is exactly the same every night...It's pretty boring and everything sounds too similar for me. I was hoping when I went to see them in Detroit that it would be different but it wasn't. Just doesn't do it for me. I am a huge DFA fan and they have kept things fresh and have variety in their songs at least. Really stoked with the new DFA album.
As far as QOTSA...I have seen them a bunch lately as well and that was one of my least favourite shows. The sound like you said was terrible. I didn't get into the show until about 1.5 hours into it. Between the sound and my hatred for that venue, I wasn't impressed lol. I am glad I am not the only one who thinks that though. Thought I was just letting my hatred for that place get in the way of having fun lol

Not sure if the mixed reviews came from people who didn't know what type of show Trey puts on. It was the best time I've had a show all year, and several friends and acquaintances gave it glowing reviews. I personally have not heard a bad thing about it, except that he normally plays 2 sets, and this festival appearance was just 1 set.
It's available online if you look for it... download it and judge for yerself!

I am going to see the closing night ceremony of the Invictus games- Bryan Adams, Kelly Clarkson and Bruce Springsteen at the ACC.
Also Chris Rock at the ACC in a couple of weeks ( does this count since he is a comedian and not a musician? )
