Sadies before Metallica on July 16
July Talk on December 22
Probably going to hit both nights of Hopped & Confused next month in Ottawa (Hollerado, The Trews, Yukon Blonde, etc)

Saw Bob Dylan last night and it was one of the most disappointing shows I've been to in a long time. I expected him to be a bit rough, but not this bad Sad

I was going to see Pokey at the Horseshoe but I won City and Colour/Blue Rodeo tickets, so I did that instead. Saw Pokey and Lillie Mae in Detroit a few weeks back though. Always a great show..

Not a bad alternative...lol.

They really were -- I caught on to them early via an acquaintance who was/is a booker, and he raved about the band. I missed a few early shows, regretfully, but did see them in their relative early days. Pretty cool to see how they've evolved from club, opener, festival side stage to headliner. They were a bit wilder and unpredictable a few years ago, but they know really come across as a band that knows how to pace a show and play to the larger audience. What really struck me this time was how good the band is -- Peter and Leah are pretty much free to do their thing, and the other three really hold it down. Very Hip-like in that respect.

Possibly the best Canadian band in terms of entertainment and audience engagement now touring? I'd put the Arkells up there as well, they put on a great show.

Saw The Shins last night finally! Loved it!

Then saw half of LCD Soundsystem's set and half of Gary Clark Jr.'s set (that was a tough schedule conflict!)

Taking the night off from Bluesfest tonight, but then its three more days in a row with Anderson Paak, Glorious Sons, Tribe Called Red, Headstones, Wide Mouth Mason, Busty and the Bass, Muse, Peter Wolf and TOM PETTY AND THE HEARTBREAKERS!

Caught them at Osheaga a few years back and they blew me away. James Mercer seems like a bit of a challenge to work with but genius none the less. Was sorry to see Jessica Dobson leave the band, I though her guitar styling was phenomenal. Love Mercer's Broken Bells collaboration with Brian Burton of Danger Mouse.

Looking forward to Ottawa Folk Fest -- Father John Misty, who I'd now travel any distance to see, Bahamas (great musician, funny live), Jack Johnson (hoping for summer weather), Margo Price (really like her album, traditional country), Matt Mays (a top 5 musician for me) and Jenn Grant (again, like her music and she's very engaging).

Roger Waters in October -- not a huge Pink Floyd fan, but have never seen any incarnation of the band and curious to see the stage show.

Whitehorse in November -- had been resisting buying tickets, seen them a few times over past 18 months and trying to save some $$, but their new album is too good to miss a show.

Matt Mays in a barn on September 29.
