Daryl24 Wrote:ya now for plan a the song is just amazing but no way i can really rate the songs as my favs on it are still changing so rapidly.
But one thing ive noticed is that this album is right about 3 joints long if i roll one right soon as im done smoking the one before...

So I hope you are using your vinyl for the rolling...

If I had a wish, it'd be for more of this,

Very cool. My 8yr old daughter likes to sing to me:
"Done and done
You always get your way"

and waits for me to reply with:

"I never get my way
You always get your way"

I love the differences of opinion. Though I like every track on the album at least a little, to me Modern Spirit and Streets Ahead are clearly the laggards. Please don't hurt me.

The top 8 tracks for me could reshuffle in almost any order and I'd think it looked okay, but here's my best shot.

Take Forever

I have to say this a pretty eclectic album; it's got a bit of the same feel as M@W in my opinion. Some good straight ahead rockers, some good mellow stuff and a bit of weirdness to it too.

I also think this album is a really good representation of their whole career, and a lot of these tunes could easily fit into other albums:

Transformation - DFN
Man Machine Poem - TATH
Lookahead - M@W
We Want To Be It - IVL
Streets Ahead - IBE
Now For Plan A - IVL
The Modern Spirit - Road Apples
About This Map - IBE
Take Forever - M@W
Done and Done -TATH
Goodnight Attawapiskat - DFN or FC

While I'm not surprised they're selling less records, half of WATS seems like quite the jump.

Perhaps they focused too much on the GTA market, neglecting other hotspots?

Or maybe releasing a single so many months before the album release date is a bad tactic? And the Gord should make mention of the new album from the stage... "Hey folks our new album is out now - grab a copy at the merch stand on your way out..."

I didn't understand the early single either. At Transformation was released before they even had firm details of the album title, correct? Why else would you release a single that far in advance if not to drum up support for the album? The single had dropped off charts and then they put the promo machine into high gear. It doesn't make any sense.

If the band really want to get back to their roots, they should make mention of the album from the stage, yet have one of the band members AT the merch stand. Who wouldn't pick up the album if not to get a sig from Robbie? Any good you band you see out there today is hawking their merch themselves.

Exactly. And aren't they in the business of selling?

Could it be because of smaller distrubution in the States? I know the stores I called only had one or two copies at best. I have friends who are waiting for another shippment etc....

I'm not sure that At Transformation is "single" material. If I was picking, The Lookahead seems like an obvious choice. WATS and WC had better single choices on them but NFPA is a better all around album in my book... Hopefully the get better sales when the tour...
