Good to see Sydor. He was benched since April when the Pens ditched Recchi. He demanded to be traded and the Pens wouldn't budge. Glad to see it worked out. :thumb:
Malkin played so much better, Hossa etc. And Sid silenced the critics, for at least one night...

I think thats the best game I've seen Pittsburgh play these entire playoffs and they barely got outta there with the W, I think thats the only game they'll win.

I love how the media wrote of the Pens. Part of me thinks they did it on purpose, to get Pittsburgh back in the series. All they had to do was listen to the reports to get fired up for game 3.

Sure, 4 goals alone wouldn't be anything special. But 4 goals and 17 assists is. If you want to compare the entire playoffs, Crosby has a slight edge with 21 points to Malkin's 19. But it's obvious that nothing Crosby ever does will impress you, so lets forget about him and address Malkin on his own. He was spectacular up until the first game against Philly. Since then he's been anything but. He's got all of two points in those 6 games, and is a minus 4, including a brutal giveaway for a pivotal Detroit goal in game one, and his worst game of the playoffs last night (on for 2 of the 3 goals against including contributory negligence on one of them, no shots, and couldn't win a faceoff to save his life). He got a free pass for the last 4 games against Philly because of his play prior to that and the fact that the Pens were still winning. All criticism of him after two games in these finals though is entirely justified.
That's the thing. I don't think that assists are equal to goals,generally speaking. A second assist is practically meaningless actually. I'd be curious to see the second assist stat be brought out, for the regular season and playoffs.
I expect nothing different from the Canadian media and fans like you when it comes to hockey and the bias against anyone who isn't Canadian. In the game against the Flyers where Malkin scored two goals against the Flyers, I had to listen to him get BASHED. It was ridiculous and still is ridiculous.
Anyway, I give full props to Crosby for his performance in game three. He came up big and scored two goals for his team. I can't take that away from him. Now I can say with confidence that he has outplayed Malkin in the series.

What critics? I give Sid full props for his performance in the game but he has been anything but criticized in the Canadian media. :rambo:

Too often, the story coming from Cole is at odds with what's actually happening on the ice.
Or what happened 15 seconds ago, like he's stuck in a permanent time warp.
That being said, I can't watch NBC's coverage. One of my rules in life is to minimize exposure to Mike Milbury.

uhmmm, not everyone is privey to the Canadian media...
all I hear is Wings this and Wings that and Crosby is soft etc.

I still think Detroit will win but at least Pitt's is trying to make a series of it, Im glad they won..lets take it up a notch. When's the last time a Cup final went to 7 games and OT, (Dallas 99?). Who wouldnt love that excitement?

The Pens were holding on for dear life in the third last night, and they'll have to play a lot better on Saturday. If not this thing will be over in 5.

Dallas in '99 only went 6 games, though yes it was decided in OT, who could forget that. The last Cup that was deciding in OT i believe was when New Jersey beat Dallas in 2000 in 6 games, with Jason Arnott scoring the ot (double or triple??) winner. I don't think the Cup has been deciding in OT since, but i could be wrong.
4 of the last 6 SCF went the distance, with Colorado beating New Jersey in 7 games, New Jersey beating Anaheim in 7 games, Tampa beating Calgary in 7 games & Carolina beating Edmonton in 7 games. The last series to go 7 games & ot...i have no clue when, if ever, that has happened.
