Hi all,

The wife just said this could be my xmas & b-day gift, so we just got tix and booked the flight. Can't wait!

Hope to be able to meet up with a few of you Hipbasers out there.

Take it easy,

Jerremy

Im sooo tempted, I just had my mouse on the purchase tickets link and sat there debating...should I, shouldnt I??

I think Id have a hard time convincing my better half to go, she's just not the Hip fan I hoped she be, I tried to make her a Hip-bot but I failed.

MAv any chance you could webcast this show??

A bottle of Dom for everyone! WOOO!

Last time they sold out very quickly.... that is sooooo much jack though. $300 for two??? Insane. I would not even think about it for any other band, but think I'll have to pass. Too rich for my blood!

is this live-to-air thing the same a free-to-air satellite?

- GBV - 11-16-2006

my favourite band played their last ever show in chicago on nye 2004. during their last few years their shows were about $12 to $20. the nye show was $75.

but $145 is way out of my range...and factor in an eight-hour drive, pricey nye hotels etc., the overpriced sauce etc...and no dice.

oh sorry...thought it was obvious so didn't want to over-talk the name.
band: guided by voices (gbv).

Don't worry, it was obvious. I was just being a smart ass Wink

here's a a link you might enjoy of part of a GBV show from a few years back

August 23, 2003 at Sunset Junction Festival

The first minutes of audio are TERRIBLE, in a trainwreck way, but somehow they pull it together at the end of Twilight Campfighter, and it becomes, in true GBV style, barely listenable! Doug Gilliard saves the day and Captain Bob's in classic form, with Roger Daltrey mic twirls while pounding back numerours Miller Lites.

dang...didn't notice your emoticon...thought you were serious.
me:

holy shite! thanks for the link...i've never seen this...fuck yes!

Anyone going

now that i live in nyc i am thinking about hopping on the sliver jet blue express and checking it out

- john cage - 11-19-2006

Here's a comparison of other NYE shows in Chicago:

Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings @ Park West - $30
Poi Dog Pondering @ The Vic - $40
Umphrey's McGee @ The Aragon - $62.50 (12/30 is $30)
The Raconteurs @ The Riv - $79 (12/30 is $36.50)

I don't think you get a plastic glass of cheap champagne at midnight at these shows.

- The Darkest Canuck - 11-19-2006

i don't think you get the most kick ass band in the world at those shows either Tongue
