Profession student baby!

I work as an EMT for the North East Ambulance Service (http://www.neambulance.nhs.uk/) looking after 2.6million people, most of which appear to be pissed at the weekend.

This means I gat to hurtle around on the wrong side of the road at high speeds with blue lights and sirens going.
Obviously I joined to help people, not for that.... nooo...

I am lucky enough to be in a job that plays like a 'Carry on' film, lets me work with some of the best people I have ever met, and occasionally sees me actually making a difference to someones life (and despite my best efforts, not by ending it!!)

I'm a teacher - 9th and 10th grade English to be specific, about 40 minutes outside of Cincinnati.

I have my certification in English and in Drama and would like to find a school where I could be involved with both programs.

For now I reteach basic grammar and try not to cry when the kids push the work right back to me, untouched. I suppose we all must pay our dues.

I am doing my BA in Media, Information, and Technoculture at UWO, and getting my diploma in Television Broadcasting at Fanshawe College.

Both decent programs, but tons of work... 6 months left!

Also, I work at a Beer Store here in London to help pay for it all.

I am a lawyer practicing in the areas of Corporate and Commercial Law.

- skippy the wonder dog - 10-30-2006

These days, I'm a business consultant for an IT company. I implement warehouse management and ERP systems.

On the plus side, I get to work from home, when I'm not travelling. On the other hand, I also have to travel ... just got back from Vancouver at 2 am, and between now and Dec 2, I'll have only one weekend at home.

I love maps, too. That would be a dream job for me.

Actually, my degree was is secondary ed (majored in English, minored in history and education). I love education theory (IMO Ted Sizer should be emperor of the galaxy), but I lacked the patience or should I say the skill to be patient. I always thought I'd get into administration. Now I can barely make it through an hour as my son's cub scout den leader without wanting to scream.

Bless you jenna....teaching is the hardest, most unrespected profession in the world.

Amen.

In addition to the difficulty and lack of respect, the salary is perhaps the least commensurate of any job I can think of.

Jenna's typical day is far more stressful, frustrating, exhausting than mine, yet she makes about 65% of my salary. Not to mention, the work itself is more important than the one I do. It just doesn't make sense.

As "specialist" (non-specific title) for a engineering / planning / consulting firm, I help mitigate environmental impacts for highway projects. Though it is a worthwhile endeavor to ensure that the construction / improvement of roadways does as little damage to the environment as possible, the bureaucratic wrangling and political backscratching built into this job lessens its overall significance....

 Thanks Josh, Thanks sweetheart. It is really nice to know that some people do understand that teaching isn't about going home at 3:00 and lengthy summer vacations.

Though, I suppose that I can't really complain, since the kids are now watching the monthly newscast (halloween special!) and eating cookies. It'll keep 'em quiet for 20 minutes or so -- yay! Tongue

I'm a corporate accountant at Borders Group Inc.
Borders is the second largest bookstore in the US, and were the largest outside of the US.

I do Public Health Reserach. I'm a Project Coordinator and I am currently running a prospective cohort study (we see the same group of people every 6 months) with 2000 people enrolled.

I've been doing this for 3 years now and it's been a pretty cool experience but I think I'll head back to school in the fall.

On a sort of related side note: emperor penguin, i too did my undergrad at McMaster in Geography and GIS! Graduated 2001, look for my pic in the halls! (say 'hi' to Walt Peace and John Eyles for me! Love those guys! I think most of the other profs I had there have since moved on though)

Also shout-outs to other GISers laliber and highlander! Keep those maps coming!

lates,
aaron

So your company slogan might be something like:

Borders
Because worldwide, Barnes & Noble is our bitch.
