The wife and my first time away from the kids in 11 yrs. Epic show. SRB was terrific as well.

June '97 - Concert Hall (Masonic Temple), Toronto - Previewed songs from upcoming Phantom Power CD

July '00 - Piere's Entertainment Centre, Fort Wayne, Indiana
November '00 - Saddledome, Calgary - I still can't even believe this set list when I look at it on the Hip's website...
July 1 '04 - Molson Amphitheatre
NYE '04 - Copps. NYE. Front Row Center. 'nuff said.
Fort York... Regardless of whether or not they played 38 Years Old, it was still a fantastic show, and a great venue.

I've only been to about seven shows, but the best of the bunch is the 2002-Ottawa Bluesfest show...
there was just something about The Hip on the City Hall front lawn in downtown Ottawa, everything was 'right' that night. And with all this talk of festival tours in the summer, God damn, I hope they return to Bluesfest... it is just too good there... 04' Bluesfest, and the Causeway in '04 were pretty good too...

2004-06-22 The New City Likwid Lounge in Edmonton.
it was a Win to Get in...I won nothing...New City put me on the guestlist, and gave me a pass to hang with them afterwards at their hotel. 2 and a half hours of them playing at my fave watering hole and on the stage that I have played on numerous times was by far one of the biggest thrills of my life.
It was also the first show for the IBE tour, and they screwed up "Summer" twice and had to restart....never thought I would ever see that, but alas, I did. and It was glorious.

My favorite show is always the next one I have tickets for . But past shows it would be 8-27-1998 Hampton Beach Casino, New Hampshire. The venue was small and right on the ocean.
Monday night at the Phoenix wasn't bad either.

Best show ever - 106.9FM (Ottawa) The Bear's 10th anniversary! Hands down!!!
1000 people crammed in. Standing in 2nd row between Gords! A few beers into me. Incredible!!! I'd never been that close before. The way the venue was set up, we were only 20' away from the bar!!!
The only way it could have been better was if the people behind me weren't asking if they could get infront of me every five minutes!!!

July 8th 2000, Minneappolis Zoo amphitheatre in Apple Valley, Minnesota...outdoor venue, about 1200 people, surrounded by trees, the lake behind the stage, about 90 sweaty degrees outside and a 25 song, double encore performance closing with Little Bones (first time heard in 8 concerts to that point). Yeah I'd say that was worth the 13 hour drive!!!
The double encore was brought on due to the concert the night before being rained out after 10 songs...the rain came down berserk...

I'm thinking that seating, although playing a large role in how the concert will play to you're own satisfaction, is often overrated. The atmosphere, the stimulants, the crowd all contribute to an amazing concert. Moreover, I must stress that a floor seat is not always the best way to go. Now, of course, if you're sitting front row and your hair is blowing in the wind resonating from pumping speakers and the sweat of Gordo' hits you in the forehead, then maybe, yes, a floor seat is unbelievable. That said, I was at a Hip concert at Copps the night before new years eve and we sat pretty far back and still had an amazing time. Perhaps is was the proximity to the beer, maybe it was even the herb, but my enjoyment at that concert was not contingent on the seats. I also believe that good friends are essential...Anyone agree? disagree?

You forgot to mention the rain, man, it was february the guy behind me had not coat and it was raining. These two guys were delivering furniture for Leons or something and heard about the show, they dropped one guy off in line and the other guy finished the deliveries, Then came back and waited in line. The guy with no coat waited all day then they didn't let him into the show because he had no ID. Geez I felt bad, I talked to him all day then had to ditch him at the door, his other buddy said he went home once we were in. The guy was practically suffering from Hypothermia and was clearly of age but the bouncers would not let him in.
They didn't even check me for ID, what a day.

I think my top 2 were both in Toronto, at the ACC on Dec 23, 2000, and the second Fort York show. Both were also last minute trips - I booked my flights and hotel the day before the ACC show, and 2 days before Fort York. That could be part of the reason they're favorites, since I didn't expect to be at either one. But then again, both were just amazing shows. The ACC will always be a standout, what a setlist. :thumb:
