Thanks . . . I actually think the only text part that wasn't so great was the two references to "We are in here" in the trailer and "Paul is over there" or what ever I said, the rest, I don't think there was a problem with and I liked a lot.

Anyways, just clarrifying that, cause, well, I think I agree . . .

I liked "We are in Here" but "Paul is over there" coulda been left out since you panned over not too long thereafter anyway I think.

btw, the Schoolhouse Rock-thing I think can actually work in Gord D's case. Sometimes it seems he's slippin' into a "conjunction junction, what's your function? Hookin' up words and phrases and clauses" kinda vibe with some of his rants and songs (like Ultramundane for example).

Now there's an idea... Downie doing a cover of Conjunction Junction! ... with an animated video to go with it! ... with Gord jumping from a traincar with animated members of the Hip to a traincar with animated members of Country of Miracles, then back again!

A littlle late getting on board; too busy with work and stuff. Words can't convey the coolness of the footage or the sincere appreciation I have for the direction thehip.com is going.

Rory started a thread last week about how proud the boys must be about TATH and to see Gord practice his favorite song kind of confirms Rory's astute observation. I concur; as time goes by, TATH gets better and better. The opening chords of ABAC sends chills up my spine and tugs at my heartstrings every time I hear it.

We are the most fortunate fans in the world!

Oh, and personally, I thought the on-screen text - all of it - was very, very cool.

Oh, good grief. I went out of my way to make my post as personable as possible, while providing some feedback, which is what MAv asked for. Since MAv was okay with my post, I'll leave it at that.

Will this be a new hip.com feature, perhaps? Or are you simply referring to the torrent tracker?

Mostly for the fact that you couldn't skip ahead. Keep in mind that my favourite thing about the Hip is the lyrics, so I'm more likely to go ga-ga over the lyrics conversation than the jam, which I still enjoyed. (I'm not at easy marker.)

It's a very minor thing. And again, merely my personal preference. I wasn't yelling, "Stop that!" at the screen or anything. Just a rye smile and a bit of an eyeroll. Oh, wait here it is: :roll:

No, and I did think that was interesting. Thanks. Here's a spot where a judicious bit of subtitling might have been put to good use. [Insert post of hipbaser here complaining that I said something that might possibly be able to be construed as slightly negative if one was having a bad day.]

I didn't mean this particular show; But ABAC and Poets have been staples for so long, that I was kind of hankering for a few things I'd never heard live, or at least very seldomly. Again, there was nothing wrong with this part. It was just neutral for me. As for my position among Hip fans, I'm somewhere in the middle. Compared to a casual radio-friendly fan, I'm way more intense. But compared to perhaps most of the frequent posters on this board, I'm a fake fan. So take my opinion as that of just one sometimes prickish die-hard casual.

I liked all the quotes..... maybe it's just my sense of humour. After all, I did create the Wedding Crashers trailer with the boys.... so we know I'm depraved!

Sometimes rough and ready is way better to me then polished and preened.

Actually, I do not agree - I thought the "we are in here" part was cool.
It just shows that The Hip are regular people just like us. They get stuck in a trailer just like normal people. No big rock star "blow" out parties in the Presidentail Suite with half naked Johnny groupies draped all over them before and after shows.
And the "Paul is over there" part - crap - why not show us that there are more than two people are creating that cool-ass jam. As I was watching the video, I may never have known Paul was even in the room if that was not there.
And by the way - A+ to the jam.

I find it amazing at what can be complained about. A free video of the Hip doing a sound check, a private jam and a preview of an unreleased song. Something that ten years ago was unheard of. I guess that now, getting boots of shows that are of good quality is really easy now gets us kind of spoiled. We can even download professionally recorded shows now, although they are still few(hint to Hip...Open up the vault on livedownload.com) It looks like we are at the beginning of some great stuff fom our favorite band. I say good job Hip and MAv.

Personally, I can't complain about anything in Mav's video. Let's be honest, we got an incredible treat for free, and we can watch it over and over again. How many jams have we ever seen with the boys in a trailer, or Gord discussing his favourite song, then playing it solo for us. This stuff is great so why bother making tiny criticisms? Naturally we're all entitled to our own views, but I figure let Mav do what he wants, and not start getting picky. I'm not trying to paint anyone with the negative brush, but just trying to prevent us from expecting to have these treats week after week and wanting more and more.

As far as the length of the jam, I was actually disappointed when it ended, I could've sat here and watched them jam for an hour (if they did). I think that kind of stuff is just incredible to watch. Mind you it's not mind blowing, it's a simple jam to anyone musically inclined, but for me, someone just taking an interest in learning drums, it's exactly what I want to see.

Keep up the sweet stuff Mav
