No, it's a smart move for the singers to be on the show. I just don't respect them as REAL ARTISTS. You can't criticize AI and praise this show then!!! IT IS THE SAME! Singers entering a singing contest!!

If the girl down the road from me had a GREAT singing voice and sang a pitch perfect version of "Man who sold the world", I wouldn't say she did a better version than Bowie or Nirvana. Even if technically, her voice was better. I just find more substance in Bowie and Nirvana than a random girl on tv singing. That's my personal opinion.

i do see where you're coming from...and i appreciate you think i have great taste in music...but for me, as a MUSIC fan...and lover..jordis and her version of man who sold the world, was an intense, powerful moment...i played it on-air the last couple days, and the listeners loved it...they felt it, i still feel it..i'm sorry you don't...and it's still way different than the idol shows....
although..they are both singing contests...

For sure man. You are in the music scene. You work at radio. You interview people whose CD's I listen to. You have more inside knowledge than I'll ever have about the ins and outs of music.

I liked the performance. Don't get me wrong. I just don't agree with the idea of the show. I don't like all these reality shows for people wanting to break into the scene. It is smart to go on the show though. You have to get a break to make it and this will be the break one or more of these singers needs.

Who knows? Maybe Jordis will have a cd of her own stuff out and I might pick it up and enjoy it.

- Kevala - 08-06-2005

i am good friends with michael hutchence....

and there is alot more than singing that goes into being in a band...so lets say they sound good....what about the drugs and women...what about the private matters backstage...or the trust in speaking to one another in personal matters...or lack of.....during the whole tour and ""stuff?"' I have been in bands and been in fights within them.....its a pure chemistry. In ALL aspects....it's not just a singer wailin' out notes...(as southern bluesy as it may be).... The band may just knock your teeth out....

Then how'ya gonna sing?

- Stace - 08-08-2005

Not getting this in the UK, so was just wondering how MiG is getting on?

The reason I ask, is because I got to see him ni the musical of 'We Will Rock You' (yes, it's a Queen one) over here in London and have to say, he sounded pretty damn good belting out the Queen tracks.

- northern wave - 08-08-2005

He's doing well...INXS seems to really like him. He should make it to the final 3 or so...who knows who'll win it. You can see performances at
rockstar.msn.com and download the songs from previous weeks

- theAryanTwang - 08-26-2005

So, it's been a couple weeks and wondering what everybody's take on the contestants are (if everyone is still watching).

IMO, Mig is the clear winner, he keeps setting the bar for the rest of the singers and the band loves him by the looks of it.

JD is one cocky kid, but it sounds like he knows what he's doing... and could very well pull off the win... his Cold As Ice performance was killer and he's kinda got that rock star appeal, but I don't think the band likes him much so we'll see what happens.

Would be nice to see Jordis make it to the final three also... but overall it seems as though Mig just fits like a glove.

Everyone else is sorta middle of the road to me. Deanna was the weakest of the bunch up there and it was time for her to go. Ty, Marty or Suzie will probably be in the bottom three next week.

I like the direction the show is going though, like having the contestants write their own songs or rearranging the songs makes it interesting and much more challenging.

- Tthip - 08-26-2005

Those are my 3 favorite also.
JD - is the best I believe - but probably way too cocky to front the band.
Jordice would seem like a good choice - especially if they do not want to look like they replacing there old lead singer - what better way than to go with a girl.
Well, I guess those are my two favorite.
Marty will not win - he is not always that good - but damn - a couple of his songs were great.
Who the hell ever thought a Britney Spears song would sound good? Sure as hell not me.
Damn - if he did not just nail it.
Here watch:

I like it...watch all the shows. There's something about that MiG that just doesn't work for me. He seems more of an actor than a rocker. When JD was stirring up shit one episode, they were discussing it with Navarro and he said that rock n' roll wasn't about rules, MiG actually asked Dave if he was encouraging them to be "mischievous"...You could almost hear every "bad" rocker out there in a collective sigh. I thought his original song blew too...clean voice though. Jordis is incredible (give her a mulligan on Dream On - although Steven Tyler has a lot of trouble with that song live) ... I could see JD winning it though

- mark - 08-26-2005

i like Mig...i think he will be in the final 3. JD is way too cocky... i get the impression he would be a total druggie if he was on the road.

as many times as they say they are open to having a girl win.. i don't see it happening.

Week 7 - cochise - 08-26-2005

I admit it, I am a reality show junkie......................lol

Did anyone catch the elimination round this week. I honestly think Marty is going to win. He did an amazing version of "Don't Change". Right from the first note he nailed this. You could see how much the Fariss boys were into it.

I will give 10:1 odds he is going to walk away with this. A good voice, tage presence and can fit into the Hutence boots pretty well.

I think the last 3 standing will be, Jordis, MiG, adn Marty with Marty taking it.

Have to admit, this show has got me diggin out my old INXS CD's, right from Shaboh Sahbah to Elegantly Wasted.

I just hope that the members make sure the new guy isn't into jerking it while hanging himself.

yeah. he totally nailed it. it was awesome. i don't think he did a great job of I along, though. i was shocked that Jordice wasn't in the bottom 3 (and so was she)
