On pins and needles waiting for the game against Slovakia...it's about damn time we got the gold and you just know this'll be a breakout effort to bring it home for the first time in 7 years. GO CANADA!!!

That was a good game, a nice way to start, a 7-3 whipping of the slovaks. Bergeron looked really good, he deserved the player of the game honors. I thought that second goal we gave up was kinda weak, but hey, we won thats all I care about, way to go boys! Lets keep it going :thumb:

Anyone watching the RUSSIA VS USA game?

Just turned it on during the last 5 mins of the first period and it was end to end. The US had a penalty-shot called against them, which really shouldnt have been called, but Russia capitalized. It is 3-3 after the first.

I noticed when Russia scored on the penalty shot there were some Canadians standing and cheering. I am surprised they didnt get their asses kicked in ar ink full of Yanks lol.

The US goaltender hasnt been very impressive, but maybe they will turn around in the next two periods.

Cant wait for tommorows game...

I thought that whole sidney crosby interview was very interesting, the first interview he's all yeah Id play, my dream is to play in the NHL blah blah blah and the next day he completely changed his tune, hmmmmm, I wonder who got to him? Wonder if any NHLers called him up and clued him in or some PA bosses. Grow a spine kid, if you want to play just play, if (god forbid) the NHL decides to go with replacements and you want to play go ahead, your not in the NHLPA, who cares? If you really feel like your doing something wrong by joining then dont, but dont let people influence your decision making. If it was me and I had a chance to play Id play. The kid has tons of talent and would be a star, but if the "real" NHL never gets going again, then what are you gonna do, he should of kept his mouth shut in the first place, wait and see what happens to the league first and then deal with it.

Hey man, cut the kid some slack. He's 17 years old! You are right though, it is pretty clear someone (or his agent) told him to revise his statement. I mean this kid is going to be targeted like crazy once he gets to the NHL and saying he'd be a replacement player is only going to make it worse. Morons like Bryan McCabe will go after his knees for making a statement like that.

I know that in MLB, replacement players who managed to stick around when the real players came back were blacklisted their entire careers. Saying "be a replacement player" isn't as easy as it sounds. The real players will come back eventually, and when they do, any replacement players who stick are going to feel the wrath.

Anyway, I thought it was a pretty stupid question to ask the kid. What 17 year old has a handle on the lockout issues? They are all going to say: "Sure, I want to be in the NHL ASAP."

Yeah, that was ridiculously one-sided. The shots on goal ended up being 52-17 in favor of Canada. I was actually cheering for Germany in the 3rd period to make some kind of game out if it, but oh well. I'm sure it'll be a tougher game against the Fins on Thursday. Some competition would be nice.
