Looks like Trevor Linden might be forced to either call it a career or be branded a hypocrite (again), if the latest polls are any indication...the Canadian fans support the owners over the players by a FOUR TO ONE margin...and, if the season was canceled (and it will be), the fans would blame the players over the owners by a 5 to 2 margin.
As for the Linden Effect...shouldn't Jeremy "Nobody should make more than $7 million a year...coincidentally as much as I make" Roenick have something names after him by now????

Oh don't worry - The Roenick Effect has been around for years - its for mouthpieces who talk big but have ZERO Cups to their name.
I still maintain the best smack-talk episode in sports was this exchange that went on between Roenick and Roy in the media during the playoffs back in '96. The background is that the Avs won a playoff game against the Hawks in OT and at some point in OT, Roenick got tripped while on a breakway, but being OT and all there was no call.
Media guy: "Were you thankful when Roenick got tripped up on the breakaway."
Roy: "Didn't matter to me. I would have stopped him."
- Roy's comment was relayed to JR.
JR: "Ask Patrick what happened on that goal in Game 1" (or something to that affect about a goal he'd scored earlier in the series."
- this was relayed to Roy.
Roy: "Tell Jeremy I can't hear him. My two Stanley Cup rings are blocking my ears."
Classic! And I'm no Habs/Avs/Roy fan, but damn, do put-downs get better than that?
