It appears a couple of people thought I was entirely serious.
No; I was only partly serious.
But the fact is, the Ashlee Simpsons will always be with us, so why get worked up over them? Remember Milli Vanilli?
There will always be people with bad taste, and there will always be music to satisfy them. It's not like the nitwits who form her fan base are suddenly going to start listening to real music. They'll either stand by her, or tearfully burn her records (er, CDs, showing my age) before moving on to the next lip-sync wonder.
Might as well go down to the beach and yell at the waves to stop crashing, as a great man once said....

All I have to say is, who cares that she was lip syncing. She really can sing, supposedly.
It's not like she's Milli Vanilli and she can't sing and someone is singing for her!
Some artists do lip sync because they dance too much and it's hard to sing when you're dancing!
I think they use that track so that it's timed exactly. SNL is a live show and only has so much time for things. Like what would have happened if when The Hip were on in 95 and Gord launched into a rant?!
Also, she's just riding on her sister's coat tails!
AND!!! If you don't like her, and I don't, but still think she's pretty good, why worry? I know where the good music is today. I saw it in Clifton Park Thursday night!

Stephen, a couple of years back, some disgruntled ex-drummer let it be known that Celine Dion lip-syncs her performances.
Many people backed her up, giving us such excuses as, you're paying to see her perform, not to hear her sing live.

Apparently, her manager/dad has now blamed the whole thing on Ashlee having acid reflux disease
cratch: Why not simply say she has a sore throat and can't perform? Artists have canceled appearances before live audiences because of exhaustion and sickness, so why not bite the bullet and cancel the performance? :roll:

she was just on the american radio awards, and told carson daly the acid refulx thing...i guess her band isn't to blame now?? what a bitch...i can't believe how she was treated like nothing was wrong...what a joke..if all of mainstream media lets this slide, there is officialy no hope for real music.

I mean if this is truly the reason, then why did she say "my band started playing the wrong song?" Why not just say: "I wasn't feeling well so I was gonna lip-sync to save you the horror of listening to my real voice, but someone pushed the wrong button."

So what do you need to play the clip link Lance put up? Does anybody have a version that can be played in Windows Media Player or RealPlayer? I'd like to see this for myself, even though it's the worst-kept secret in showbiz that lip synching occurs...

I know I shouldn't even care about no talent hacks but I'm almost forced to see them because they are tv so damn much. I'm not saying young teens are bad people for listening to the Jessicas and Ashlees and Britneys of the world. After all, that is the demographic and they have lots of disposable income to spend on merchandise and stuff. I'm just saying that these people annoy me. When I turn on the tv and see a little girl crying because N'Sync just walked into the room, I cringe. It's the same feeling I get when I turn to Oprah or Dr. Phil the odd time that I do and see the fake people in the audience. I'm not convinced Oprah's fans are real people. I don't know real people who act like they do. They look like robots and make infomercial audiences look "genuine".
Anyway, the point is I hope bad things happen to people who lip sync. All of them. I genuinely wish nothing but bad things for them. The only problem is that Ashlee Simpson is a millionaire so what does she care. She's laughing at all the people who think she's a joke. The joke is on all of us.
By the way, Ashlee's studio voice sucks anyway. It's not like she has a great voice even on tape. She is no better than Milli Vanilli in my mind. If you lip sync once, you are just as bad as if you always have done it in my mind.

I just right-clicked on it and "save target as"... It's on my computer now and I can watch it anytime I feel like a good laugh... lol
As for the Hipbase being down earlier or something and I finally got on, I watched the Radio Music Awards and saw that little bullshit thing she did when she started performing; "Oh wait! It's the wrong song! Just joking!" That is bullshit, fresh and steaming. First it was the band's fault then it was a "glitch" then it was a sore throat and acid reflux and now "well everyone does it anyway" and then tonight on the Radio Music Awards she goes nuts and sends out, what I am clenching my teeth as I type, a pretty good exercising of vocal skills...
So, even though, I'm starting to have my doubts as to whether or not she was always lip-synching all the time or this was a one-time thing that "glitched", I still think she's bullshit. Releasing a song about living in her sister's shadow? We all know that her hair is fake; like 2 months ago she had ear-length blonde hair and now she has black hair and it's longer than mine? I've been growing my hair for two years! And it's longer than mine! The fact is, even though we live in an appearance-based society, where the pretty people have more friends and are more likely to be trusted (for some reason or another... and although we might not like this fact we can't mistake it) we are talking about art here. Does anybody even know what in the hell Michaelango or Dante looked like? No, but that is probably cuz we didn't have cameras. But I'd still like to think the creations will out-live the creators...
I write poems and songs and shit and if I was famous, I would like it to be because of my art and not because of me. I mean, plain and simple, we all strive to acheive something in what we do, and alot of people dream of being famous, not just having the cash and the women, but having world-wide acknowledgement and appreciation for what we have created. But we're not always judged by what we create, so now we have pretty girls singing songs that 30 songwriters combined their skills to create by following the "rules of the hit-song"...
Contemporary art needs CPR...
And I feel like an asshole standing around doing nothing watching it in its death-throes....

However, I still don't think she has a good voice. I truly believe that these pop stars (Avril, Eminem, Nickelback, Hoobastank included) could put out a song of roosters clucking in the morning, and still sell millions. The actual art, or song is secondary to these fans. It is almost an afterthought. "OH MY GOD JESSICA HAS A NEW SONG OUT! I HAVEN'T HEARD IT BUT I KNOW IT'S GREAT"

Exactly. It's all image now. They put more money into promotion and publicity than they do into the actual music. It's sickening. It's like a library full of books and you got a few authors writing really damn good stories and stuff... but the best-sellers are the ones with the prettiest covers...

Well, like all sentient beings in North America, I have unfortunately heard both Hilary Duff's and Lindsay Lohan's "songs". I am forced to conclude that both artists are only famous because of their feuding in public, which is why I'm always trying to goad Brazle into a fight.
I mean, really, these people don't sing! I haven't heard any of Lohan's album material (I sucessfully avoided pop culture radio and TV stations for the past few months) I did see her at some awards show. Now, obviously she was lip synching because she wqas flailing herself all over the place and the headset mic was bobbing up and down like her boyfriend, but the BACKING TRACK wasn't even good! I mean really, she can sing on note, but her voice is flat and boring and has no range at all. That dancing was more distracting from rather than complementary to the song. Which I suppose could only be a good thing, considering the song itself.
So...the twin towers of today's pop music scene can't sing, but have plenty to fight about, apparently, and they rake in millions. Brazle, you wanna take this one out back?! Brass knuckles my specialty! :lol:
