FULL DISCLOSURE: I'm neutral on both. Just got a good chuckle when reading your "criteria" post shortly after reading your "why the Allman Brothers belong" post.
I was trying to be fair. Bottom line: Greg & Dwane Allman & Dicky Betts have / had more talent than all 13 members of Guess Who combined, the Allman's discography is much more voluminous, yet the percentage of worthless material is far smaller than that of Guess Who.
EDIT: Just so we're clear, my main reasoning is the point that the Allmans had one of the best guitar duos ever. Randy Bachman doesn't hold a candle to D. Allman or Betts. Hell, Bachman isn't even close to being as talented as the D. Allman's most recent replacement - Derek Trucks. Furthermore, I can't name ONE GW composition that rivals the musicianship or soul in Blue Sky, Jessica, Dreams, Midnight Rider, Statesboro Blues, Aint Wastin Time No More, Whipping Post, One Way Out or a score of other songs. And one last point regarding 'turnover', the glaring difference between the two is that the two founding members of GW left their band after only three years, while the Allman Brothers Band bears the name of its founding members, one of whom still leads the band, while the other was a member up until his untimely death.
So, to meet your criteria, either Bachman or Cummings should have died and/or been named Guess or Who. :lol:
Honestly, I'm not much of a fan of either band. I like a few Allman Brothers tracks, and I like a couple of Guess Who tracks, but neither of those bands would make my top 20.

The Guess Who sucks. Randy Bachman REALLY sucks. BTO sucks. They all suck.
The Guess Who comes nowhere even near the Hip. They are quite possibly the most over rated, over played band in Canada. Cancon has them completely over saturated on the radio that its sickening. What are really average songs that should be played once in a while, end up getting thrown in the high rotation slots simply because they're a Canadian band that has catchy, generic tunes. They have decent tunes, but are sadly destroyed by their over play.
They get boring REALLY fast. They come nowhere close to comparing with the Hip.

The Guess Who and BTO are both amazing bands, especially TGW, BUT, i agree, they can't touch the hip, to say that they suck though is just not true, Bachman is kick ass, and he can still play quite well live.
