I agree. Maybe the Civic was the only venue available for that particular date. I'm kinda surprised they're playing arenas actually. The last time they played the Saddledome on the Music@Work tour, they only did one show and it didn't even sell out. The ACC and Copps make sense because they're still bigger than Jesus in the Toronto/Hamilton area, but out west the Hip's popularity has dropped a little bit over the past couple of years. Personally I was hoping they'd do a theatre tour again.

I was at the Saddledome and The Skyreach Centre in Edmonton for the Music@Work tour and they both seemed very sold out to me.


It always looks sold out when the show is happening and you're right in the middle of the mayhem. My best buddy works in the music industry and I remember him telling me that there were still plenty of tickets available at the box office on the night of that particular show. Then in 2002 we saw them scale things back a bit by playing theatres. I figured that was the end of the Hip's arena days and that they would most likely go the Blue Rodeo route for the rest of their career and just do theatres. Looks like I was wrong.

basically the Labatt centre is a mini-ACC. it's an OHL sized Air Canada Centre. never seen a show there but it's been attracting big acts since it opened a couple of years back.

i'll be there, and at the very least i'll be in hamilton and toronto aswell.
finally i'll get to walk home from a hip show.

I've never been to Copps, but I was right up front for Sheryl Crow at the new Labatt Center and it was a pretty cool venue for an arena concert. Reminded me of Sport Mart Place in Kamloops.

Can't wait to see them in the Peg again. And it looks like they will be opening the new arena downtown too. Amazing!!!

I'm just wondering if I can convince the girlfriend to see them the night before in Brandon. I'm not counting on it seeing as we are all booked to do our very first Hip-trip to see them in Minneapolis next month..

Two out of three ain't bad, although I would even consider going to see them by myself in Brandon.

As for a second Winnipeg show, I doubt it. If they weren't playing Brandon, I would say it might be a possibility. But because they are you won't have as many fans from west Man coming to the Peg to see them.

i think there could be a second show added to winnipeg its been a few years since the hip came around and theres alot of hip fans in winnipeg
i would bet on a second show being added
they have done 2 shows there for the last couple tours i think since 1996
excpt for the ARA tour Big Grin

I agree with everyone about the Corel Centre. I don't think I would've gone to the show if they were to play there again. The Civic Centre will sell out fast though, hopefully the real fans get the tickets.

15 shows in 20 days is absolutely crazy. unless i missed an official announcement, that schedule seems too tight to be legit.

Well, I'm going to the Toronto show for sure. I would especially love to see them at Copps Coliseum too though. I hear they put on a stellar show there - not too shabby for a crappy venue. Hey, anyone from the Kingston show, how was Dan Aykroyd on harmonica for Locked In The Trunk Of A Car?

I got the e-mail too. Although it did say in the e-mail that these dates are not 100% confirmed yet.
