There's gotta be 1 band member in the loop that musta found a reason why the shouldn't release anything from the past......yet. If it's not that then maybe it's a management thing. with live shows like the ARA Popper/Downie thing the only reasoning I can think of is that they know that its out there,so maybe they think they don't need to put that or any other gig thats been taped out there. But I for 1 would definately purchase a soundboard of any live gig they wanted to release, they'd see that the interest of the fanz would be there atleast and that in itself would I hope convince the powers that bee to say hey this is a good thing, just my Nickel for your Nightmarez.....thats interesting stuff MCWSLC! thanx for the story :thumb: Anyone else with reasons why they're takin there time with the older shows~

So I've heard the MOD club show.. just wondering though; video or audio?
They never exactly said which and which...
I know some of us have assumed it would be audio but what if they just started releasing DVDs of old shows?

How cool would that be?! Confusedhock:

A whole shelf in stores dedicated to live Hip!! :jump

It'd be nice to get just the audio released but, in this day and age, the situation seems like it might be beneficial for their fanbase (and its proliferation) if they would go for actual visual than merely audio. The current industry is about 80 % image (unfortunately) but still, I think I'm just wishing; I doubt very much the Hip recorded every show in video, probably just hooked up the wires to a recording device in the back or something.

So it'll probably be just audio of past shows but, do the Hip know about The Hundredth Meridian? I guess they'd have to know there was a database of some of their shows. Just like the occasional comment begs the situation that they frequent the hipbase i.e. "the rumours are true..." etc. Though I don't know how much of their time they have dedicated to surfing the web... I hope they get the chance soon to have some free time to pull this stuff off. Well, they could probably pay people to do it and wouldn't have to have free time (with the tour and what-not) to release this stuff...

I am waiting, as well as a couple thousand other fans I'm sure, for this to happen. I have a hammer hovering over my piggybank... Do it, boys.... Give me the word and I'll smash him... Do it.... The piggy's life is yours....

I'm sorry but its MADDENNING when I hear this stuff..

Both the Hip and Pearl Jam confirm they have all their old shows recorded and just sitting in a storage bin somehwere...

why, why, why?????!!

Even if they followed the path of the Dead and released old shows on a periodic basis it would:
1) Make money for the band
2) Satisfy the Fan base

Another thing I find completely frustrating is the songs left off each album..
I too was lucky enough to spend some time with the band on the Henhouse tour. Bobby and I were in the corner of the room at Axis (the band's post show hang out after Avalon in Boston) and spent about 20 minutes talking music.
he was telling me about all these great tracks left off RA, FC, DFN and TATHH...
I asked him why they didn't just bank them away and put them on the next album (makes sense, right?) he just said "Nah......"
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRG!

bump!

Anyone have an update / more info. about potential official 'bootlegs'?

Nothing has been said in a while and I'm starting to doubt it will become reality. Sad
