That's a pretty broad brush you're painting with. That's when I got into them and I can tell you this was/is not the case for me. I loved it and still do.

Mom? Is that you? Nah...can't be...mom doesn't make up words.
Anyway, Dark Canuck, it's funny you listed those songs, because I don't care for any of them, really, except for Little Bones (which doesn't seem to fit on that list for some reason....)
I'll have you know that there are plenty of Hip songs I love that ARE 'rockers'....I always seem to prefer the thick, heavy, powerful songs that are not particularly 'up-tempo' - like Giftshop, Grace, Cordelia, Membership, Wild Mountain Honey, just to name a few.

I listened to some Zepplin on the radio today - and I could not get Wild Mountain Honey out of my head.
Weird you mentioned that.

oh, l love em all, just the ones i listed seemed to me to be some of the harder/heavier tunes the hip have recorded over the years, anyway, those aren't even my favourite hip songs per say, just the ones i find to rock the hardest. sometimes it's great to just listen to some moodier stuff anyway, like springtime, escape is at hand, nautical disaster, opiated ect. ect. ect.

I don't know if you are directing that post to me (because I did mention it on here quite a while back), but I agree that Wild Mountain Honey is EXTREMELY Zeppelinesque....

I'm just as guilty as everyone else for starting discussion on the best and worst albums. . but it has come to a point that I have found the following conclusion:
Every Hip album is both someone's favourite, and someone else's least favourite album. Every album has a different feel to it, and different fans latch onto the different feels. Because maybe of the albums are so different, however, fans always lean towards albums from a specific era. .
generally. . people either like older stuff the best. . and the newer it gets the less they like it. . or the other way around.
But the bottom line is. . there will never be a set best and worst album. Every hip album is amazing to someone, because they write good music.

Except In Violet Light...that guy who took the Official World Survey proclaiming IBE the best album ever also found out that IVL is the worst ever produced. And you know it's true because would you really doubt a guy who asked every person on earth??

I guess I shouldn't generalize. My friends and I had this opinion however.
