I wonder if people are equating ranting with a great show? Because I thought, while it was a rant-free performance, Gord was his usual blistering self---and I especially liked the howling madness of 'Grace Too.' That's not exhuastion, that's dementia@work. :twisted:
Frankly, I don't want Gord to feel 'forced' to get up, fight the mike, and rant. If he feels like it, great. But the Hip are not a novelty act; the songs stright-up should be enough, and they are, IMO.
Speaking of which, don't you love the finale of the performance of Music@work where Gord repeats the phrase in a Dylan voice, then some death-metal bellow, Dylan again, and closes it up with an Elvis impersonation? That's hilarious! :mrgreen:

In fact before Hip concerts, I'm often concerned that Gordie will one day rant for the sake of fulfulling audience demands and not to get something off his mind or make a statement (which is the reason why I love them).
Also, I wish there was a song or two at every concert where Gordie would shut up, crank Bobby's guitar 'n let him fly... instead of having his "solos" be virtual background music.

I totally agree. I often wonder if Bobby gets frusterated with Gord talking over his solos.
That being said, I absolutely love rants and they are really entertaining, but yes, they should be a feeling deep inside not something forced.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I only heard it once 'n was only half listening at the end), but when they left the stage after Fully Completely, did Gord say "Bobby 'n Johnny... Billy 'n Ricky"?

Yep. For Dave "Billy Ray" Koster and Ricky Wellington I'm assuming.

Billy Ray, in addition to having the coolest belt buckle known to man, has been the Hip's head Roadie for I believe, more than 15 years. He's the guy with the tattered cowboy hat.
I've seen Ricky Wellington credited as both a "stage manager" and a "tech." So I believe he's another go-to employee. I think he's the thin balding man that's usually hanging out with Mark Vreeken near the board. Andybody know for sure if that's Ricky?

Ah... that would explain "stage manager." Cool, thanks. I noticed Gord and he were having a really good time in Ottawa (at least one of them was sober!
) and in Wasaga, he was singing along with all of us. Good to finally put a name to his face.

Has anyone been able to save or record this? I watched it at work today, but I'm now at home where I have a dial-up connection, so I can't stream it to watch it. If anyone was able to save it, I'd love to get it or have any suggestions on how to save it myself.

i'm ripping it at the moment. it's a .WMV around 267MiB. i'm pretty sure it's the whole thing, but i guess i'll see in about 10min.
the direct link to the WMV file is a time encoded URL so i doubt this will work for anyone but me:
