Just watching Sports Net and they had a quick blurb on Gord Downie singing the national anthem. They had a picture of Gord singing with a stadium and the All Star Game logo as the announcer spread the word.

Nice to see the media attention!

Now THAT is going to be interesting. I have been trying to imagine what that is going to sound like, and I'm a bit stumped...

However it sounds, it'll be one for the archives, for sure.

Ditto, I just can't picture Gord singing it, interesting to see how it comes out , we all know how Gord get's with lyrics. (fingers crossed)

If anybody heard Gord do "Silver Road" with Sarah Harmer in '02; straightforward, no high notes, gravely but steady: That's how I picture this performance. And I think you can count on the words either on the jumbotron or a sheet of paper in front of him.

Anybody seen the footage of Robert Goulet stumbling through O Canada? Let's hope Gord can avoid that...

Gord sang O Canada at The Amphitheatre last night. Despite my thoughts to the contrary, it works!

Silver Road was great, now if he can get through the anthem without going into "You're Everywhere" rant style in the middle.. Actually i'd pay to see that.

I was thinking how GREAT would it be to see him start with "alright," and then stop at "Command" and go into "Who's commanding you, it's you, it's you, it's really you... With Glowing hearts..." And of course finish up with a church on fire as the big brass band struggles to keep up.

What's he going to say when he steps up to the mic to sing?
Oh wait, I know...

"Hello".

I saw the video of the nation anthem for the first time today. My god, it was painful to watch IMO. I mean, its just simply not Gord's style AT ALL.
