Whoever voted for Stay is as wrong as someone can be about a totally relative topic.

Am...am I the only one here who hates "Puttin' Down"?

I voted for "Honey," for obvious reasons, but "Puttin' Down" would've been second if I'd got another vote.

I used to dislike 'Puttin' Down,' but coming back to it years later found it an OK pop song. The key is to think of it as just that, a pop song. Also, at the time we hadn't had much of Gord singing in that high register and it irritated me, but, again, having had years to get used to Gord's doing that, PD sounds better.

It resembles 'The Lookahead' in the specific sense that if it were a couple of seconds longer, it'd tip over into badness. But it ends just at the moment where you're about to become annoyed with it. (I think The Lookahead is a better song, but that's immaterial).

I'll ruffle a lot of feathers, but in all honesty, anything past the first five tracks I might as well just blindly click. Until it gets down to those, I really don't have to put much thought into the vote, just pick the one I dislike the most that day. After that, then I think it will get interesting.

Geez, cochise, I'm no fan of this record either, but 'Sharks' and especially 'The Bear' have a lot going for them. I'm surprised you get nothing out of those tracks, at least.

With you, although I like "Train Overnight" and love "Pines."

Interesting you should pair up Putting Down and The Lookahead. I've often wondered of both songs what they might be like with one more verse each -- thinking they might be better, which you clearly don't. Maybe they couldn't sustain being 3:45 songs and need to be 2:54 songs (or whatever they are). You might be right.

One Night in Copenhagen is in the same camp.

I like 'em both as straight up punches, and agree that The Lookahead is better. Most listenable thing on NFPA in my view. Not the best though (clearly that's Man Machine Poem).

Fascinating exercise, and I wish I had not missed the earlier albums. Other than the first EP, I don't think the band had a track I'd characterize as weak and certainly nothing I'd skip. That is what makes their catalog so incredible.

Having said that, I decided to vote for WMH even if I like it musically.

The Completists is my favourite song on this album. Johnny kills the drum track. Only annoyance is "you lured me a loooooot".

Second favourite is the title track, though I find the jerk/work rhyme a bit pedestrian for Gord. He makes up for it with "La, la, la, la, etcetera".
