If this guy was expecting Zeppelin he was just setting himself up for disappointment - the chances of them being on the bill were about as good as Pink Floyd or The Beatles. I'll concede Radiohead, but nothing else on that list is anything special. And I'm not sure how The Hip & STP aren't "worthy" of headlining a Virgin Festival - in fact their names aren't the least bit out of place when compared to other North American headliners.
Another fine piece of journalism by the folks at Sun Media.
Tell me about it. Coldplay? Jay-Z? REM? Linkin Park? 100 year old Brian Wilson? Muse? Give me a freakin' break! I'm assuming that the skanks that are disappointed in the show are the same skanks who were saying that Three Days Grace and Hedley blew away The Hip at the Festival of Lights a few years ago. :?
The fact of the matter is that the lineup is ridiculously great!

To make it a soggy dream come true for the front row as well?

Let me get this straight: Calgary gets eff all in the way of decent big concerts, a line-up like this gets dropped from the heavens...and people are complaining? Firstly, the Calgary line-up blows Toronto's out of the water (in my opinion, at least, although that could be because I just saw the Foo Fighters and I'm seeing Oasis in August...and I've seen them both multiple times, anyway). Secondly, for a city where nothing happens fifty weeks out of the year, those are pretty rich statements. Thirdly, wasn't Calgary the same city that was in a lather for a Sloan/Bedouin Soundclash/Finger Eleven concert last weekend?
And finally, were people
actually expecting Led Zeppelin? Or was that just something the
Sun came up with for lack of quality journalism?
/off soapbox. I just get frustrated sometimes.

Please do not think the sweeping statements of the crack Calgary enterainment media speak for the majority. This is gonna be an awsome weekend. Everyone I am talking to is getting tickets and are pumped for this great line-up.

That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. Not worthy enough? Why? Because they're not as "hip" or "cool" as Radiohead or the Arcade Fire? Gimme a freakin' break.

If the hip aren't worthy of headlining a festival...NO ONE is...not even a super group consisting of John Lennon, Keith Moon, John Paul Jones, and Evlis friggin Presley himself.

Oh, I don't--I think it's a much more damning indictment of the
Sun, although that's hardly necessary. It's just strange that they'd choose to cover it
that way, y'know? Instead of getting excited about the lineup, their immediate reaction--apparently--was to lambast it. I guess Brian Wilson or the Raconteurs would be worthier headlines than, say, the most popular Canadian band?
And regardless, it PWNS the Toronto line-up.

Got my tix. Just going to Sunday. Should be great. Anyone know anything about the venue? How many people will be there?
Basically I want to know how I can get nice and close for the Hip.

It's general admission. Get there early, or push your way up front!

Got tix for Sunday, will be wearing my base shirt, so if you see me, please say hi!
Hopefully I'll run into bigA and his lovely wife again. Bumped into him at the last 2 shows I went to, he is a very nice guy.
Roll on June 22nd!
