Coincidence?
I happened to be in line buying tickets at the HOB in New Orleans back in October as the band was leaving the venue after their sound check. Johnny was the first one out the door and as he was getting on the bus I asked if they could play Put it Off again (I realize Johnny doesn't write the set lists and he is the last one to request a song from, but he was the only one there at the moment).
Anyhow, he stopped on the steps of the bus and looked at me kind of strangely and said, "Where did we play that, San Francisco? We only played it because we recorded that show". I said something like, "But don't you guys record every show? Are you telling me you're going to release it as a live album?". He mumbled something and said Sinclair would be out shortly and I should request it from him.
I can think of a million excuses why they couldn't play a certain song, but to say "We only played it because we recorded that show" seems kind of odd., especially since they hadn't played it in 10 years?
But come to think of it, it was their first appearance at the legendary Warfield…so who knows...

That's a very bizarre story indeed.
Generally, every show is recorded except if there's a glitch or something...
Odd indeed.

That's an extremely badass setlist. I really hope that this is the show we get.

Its fun to speculate…we have 6 days to kill until the 17th.
The SF show kicked off the final leg of the WC Tour, and the live downloads they made available in 2004 were also recorded on the final leg of the IBE Tour.
When Johnny made that comment I was "stunned" because I remembered seeing the SF set list and thinking how kick ass it was...

I was precisely thinking of that show when MAv posted...

If it really is SF, then the show was awesome. It was the by far the best show of the five that I heard them play over the past year. From my perspective, that would be a real treat.
