great first 2 periods so far, i'm looking forward to a game one overtime. i still can't believe buffalo let two breakaways/one shorthanded goal on their first (or second?) powerplay.

It's truly rare to watch a reasonable hockey game these days. I'm not watching the game but I'm sure the calls were tacky. Hockey has become almost unbearable to watch, with the ridiculous overhaul of the rules and the ridiculous refereeing which has inevitably led to most players diving all over the ice like hooligans.

Well that sure as hell sucked.
What a piece of shit the Sabres power play is. Has been all season so no suprise there though. Good game to watch if your not a Sabres fan. They said there was about 6,500 outside the areana watching the game on the big screen. Nice letdown. PP/PK is gonna get us killed. It's only 1 game but they need to pick it up big time. At least they came back but need that extra push, which you would think they need no motivation for what the goal is. Ottawa was no doubt looking like a team that WANTS to be here. oh well, on to game 2. GO SABRES.

That's the reason i went with the Ottawa Senators in this series (predictions i mean)...against the Rangers at least, Buffalo's special teams weren't good at all. Their PP was horrible the majority of the series, and the Rangers ate the Sabres PK alive. 5-on-5 in that series the Sabres were great, but if they are to win 4 of the next 6 (or 5) games against this Senators teams, they have to improve their special teams quickly.

Sens are up 2-0 in the series heading to Ottawa for games 3 & 4 - wow! Another 5 points for me in hockey pool from the Spezza/Heatley tandem, i have 105 total now, the next closest has 74

Yeah, I'm comfortable saying the Sens have the advantage now. But I can't believe how clutch Buffalo can be, Drury on Thursday and Briere tonight. Very impressive.

Briere in game 4 of the Rangers series (though it was disallowed), and Drury in game 5 of that series were both scored in the dying seconds as well.

Well, all that clutchiness nearly gave me a heart attack. Briere seemed to play a better game, but other than that it's hard to determine which Buffalo players are going to show up on any given night. I wonder if shuffling lines too much does more bad than good...

Let me be the first to say that I am as confused as anybody as to why that goal was disallowed; however, the Senators deserved to win the game, and they prevailed. Living in this environment (that being, a fairly nervous, and historically defeated enivronment, where a fan relies on shaky and questionable load-bearing walls to provide the cliched structure for us to 'house our support'), the 2-0 deficit early, and the Briere goal with 5.1 seconds left created much unneccesary, although frequently, and fiscally experienced discomfort.
Either way, this is the first time that the 'new' Ottawa Senators have had a 2-0 series lead since inauguration, and even the heartiest of Buffalo fans will agree that things look quite good for Ottawa, or quite bad for Buffalo, depending on your perspective.
Also, Alfredsson will win the Conn Smythe...
Also, that was one hell of game... Monday can't come fast enough...

thats a bold statement. i originally said Sens in 6, and then after game 1 i was tempted to say Sens in 5 because i do believe they can pull it off but buffalo is going to come out strong in game 3. we'll see what happens.

Still a little early.. but quite possible if he continues playing like he has thus far. He's a complete player, the physical side he's shown has been amazing.. the best hockey of his career IMO.
