i was watching the game on the centre ice package and in between a play i over heard in view being played over the PA. that was the game highlight.

Yep, it's been a pretty disappointing stretch drive. Mats definitely hasn't been his usual clutch self for well over a month now. But a GWG in regulation tonight could change all that.

BTW, was watching some of the 'nucks and Sharks game and had a good chuckle when a scrum broke out in the first period and everyone grabbed someone. Well, that's what I thought until I noticed two Sharks on one 'nuck so I said to myself "Gutless Puke Cooke must be on the ice hiding behind on a ref". Sure enough in the next shot, there he was, talking to a ref. That guy has got to be the biggest coward in the league.

Well that was definitely an entertaining game tonight, but man did both teams ever look awful. Neither really looked like they wanted to be in the playoffs too badly for large stretches of the game. I was glad to see Raycroft get pulled when he did, but Aubin didn't really have much work the rest of the way. The turning point was clearly all those penalties the Habs were nice enough to take late in the 2nd and early in the 3rd.

And try as hard as he might, Raycroft could not snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. I loved Cherry claiming Raycroft couldn't see the 2nd goal. Uh, yeah - that must have been why he threw his glove up in the general vicinity, whiffed, and then looked at his glove like it had a hole in it. Nice try Grapes. Find someone who is at least somewhat worthy of defending.

And while Captain Clutch didn't get that elusive goal to tie Sittler, I'll take 3 assists in the biggest game of the year. Kudos to Koivu for having a big game too.

Fact is, it should never have come down to this. If you look back in this thread to the halfway point of the season, and consider the comments here and the way the Habs were playing, the big question is why the wheels fell off.

The first thing they should do is guilloitine Samsonov, pour encourager les autres.
