The Luongo deal was by far the best move made by any GM in this year. BY FAR. Nonis got a franchise goalie who is an MVP candidate and Vezina candidate for a washed up Bertuzzi, a decent defenseman (Allen), and a goalie who is an average starter (who can't clearly beat out a 78 year old Belfour for the #1 job). Plus, the Canucks got a young defenseman who might turn out to be a decent #3 or #4 d-man in the near future.

Like cferneyh said, out of a list of 30, Doug Maclean should be 31. Holmgren is ranked WAY TOO HIGH, Tallon's ranking seems to be based on what MIGHT or SHOULD happen instead of what HAS ACTUALLY HAPPENED, Doug Riseborough should be higher IMO, and Holland is overrated.

What has Detroit done recently other than be bounced from the playoffs and signing a 60 year old Hasek who everybody and their mother knows isn't going to be there to save the Wings when it matters? Isn't this the same team that has put its complete faith recently in Joseph and Hasek?Oh yeah, I forgot about the tremendous deal for Bertuzzi. He's destined for big things in Detroit. It's not like Bertuzzi has been known to disappear in crunch time or only play for a contract or anything. It's not like Bertuzzi has been injured all season and has a body that has just about had it. It's not like Bertuzzi is known as a locker room cancer or is known to be one of the laziest hockey players in the league. It's not like he's been known to get dumb penalties that cost his team. None of that is true. :? Good luck Detroit. It'll be nice to see you bounced from the playoffs yet again. The days of Shanahan and Yzerman are over boys. :rambo: It'll be nice to see Datsyuk and Zetterberg completely disappear come playoff time again. :twisted:

Lucked into some last minute tickets to the Leafs' game tonight...big win for the home team. Gotta say they dominated most of the game despite the scoreboard. At one point in the 3rd the shots were 26-9 Leafs, but after they took the lead they seemed to sit back a bit and TB turned it on, shots ended up 28-21. Raycroft made some nice saves in the 3rd, but was definitely outplayed by Marc Denis for most of the game.

My buddy and I decided to play the Bryan McCabe Drinking Game tonight (every time he gets a point or makes a stupid play, you take a drink), so obviously I'm feeling pretty good right now. The kicker was McCabe was named 2nd star of the game, so that meant we had to do a couple shots of whiskey after the game...

is there a new rule in the rule book that your aloud to high stick any leaf player you want and not get called for it? there were 2 missed high sticking calls yesterday and a few more in the last few games. open your eyes refs.

No but I think they're implementing a new Whiny Toronto Fan rule...

Perhaps...but us Leaf fans have a LONG way to go before we whine anywhere near as much as Sabres fans.

Look at it this way, if last night's Dipietro/Begin collision had happened to Ryan Miller, Ruff would have sent Peters out to run Koivu and the Sabres' owner would have written a letter to Bettman complaining about players on the other team skating too hard to get to loose pucks.

It's too bad other teams don't have the balls to stand up and point out injustices. A lot of cowards just take it. True teams have each others backs, from the players to the coaches to the owner

Seriously....especially when they claim that not whining is cowardly. I'm guessing all Sabres fans were little whiny tattlers when they were growing up.

let's lay off the sabre fans for now. they'll have plenty of whinning to do once they are eliminated in the second round.... if they make it that far. then we'll get to hear every excuse in the book as to why they were somehow fucked over. they'll choke just like the snes do every year. you'll see. :roll:

Nice to see that now that the taxpayers are going to build Mario his $300 million arena, he's decided to take down the "for sale" sign on the Penguins.

Nice return on his $25 million investment. But it was all about keeping the Penguins in Pittsburgh and never, ever about lining his pockets with equity sponsored by taxpayers. Never. :roll:

man you are a pessimist, the deal to go to kansas was better for mario if he was only interested in lining his pockets. for the team to survive anywhere they needed a new rink, whether it was in pitt or wherever else. mario has staved off extinction of this team 3 times now, so if he finally gets some reward for his risk, good on him. i ask you cfer, if you were mario, would you sell the team now? i thought not

Uh, would Mario own the rink in KC? No. So in PIT he gets a free $300 million rink, courtesy of taxpayers. It was never about Mario "saving the franchise". It was always about Mario getting a fat ROI on his investment.
