One of my favourite moments in the whole CD.

Who are you The last Recluse?
Who are you The Last Canada Goose?

It makes you think they wrote the song from that one line haha

Good turnout at the Oakville SilverCity — about three-quarters full. Anybody have a THEHIP11 vanity plate? Saw you pulling out of the theatre after the show.

Hope that they consider doing this again in the future!

Thompson Girl was the biggest highlight, followed by Gord's astonshingly M@W era sounding vocals, followed by TLR, followed by a bone chilling Escape.

...just got home and read all the reviews...i am an old hen-houser that doesn't post much, but always check in...even won an old live Darian lake CD from Dana way back in the day! and thanks - I still owe you and hope to repay on this tour! I am so far going to one in Kitchener, NYC, Boston and a couple in TO...and will mix in a couple business trips around the tour.

I saw the 10TongueM at the Scotia-bank Theatre - old paramount in Toronto on Richmond Ave...only about 15 - 20 people and I was on my own - as i put the family to bed and scooted as a last minute decision. Man did I make the right call here.

The Bathouse is perfect; and the artwork around the place sets the mood - during the pool-room scene, I couldn't help but crack up at the King Kong poster - if any others noticed, the bottom half of King Kong, was some 70's or 80's album cover (of some (super)dude wearing tight jeans), over top of King Kong's bottom half - the lads must of have a had a laugh putting it up for, umm, obvious reasons...

Escape was amazing....probably the best I have ever heard it!

The Depression Suite is just about the best song I have ever heard....you have to give that a couple spins and I guarantee it will become a classic to any music lovers ears! I just can't tell you all what a great tune this is!

Thomson Girl, wow - played where they recorded it - you could tell that they were getting nostalgic.

The struggle has a name, took me by surprise live...i did not expect greatness here, but it really finds its groove live; and I think it will be a crowd pleaser.

Was hoping to hear Frozen in my tracks, Queen of the Furrows and the full Country Day...and the whole show coulda been a little longer but I digress as I loved it.

Can't wait for some of the shows and great job to those that put it on...and to those that went and enjoyed!

Cheers, Edward

PS. did I mention how good the Depression Suite is? and how great it is live???

I saw the King King poster upper left from Bobby and that was The Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers Album cover that made King Kong look like he was wearing jeans.

I think I stood with you at one of the Phoenix shows.. ..maybe Edward... anyways the Depression Suite was a freakin Anthem... deadly - highlight Paul's back/harmony near the end of Music At Work. Killer

..."It's All Metaphors George" Gord says as they walk off from the Fully Completely Poster

I went with Tod who I met during Phantom Power and after the show ended I heard my name and turned only to see
Mathew K right behind Todd and I in Mississauga - Holy too much

What seemed to be a tough listen at first...this album has turned the corner strong for me. real strong

The single showing in Regina was nearly sold out. No clapping after songs, the sound was very quiet and seemed to only came from the front (screen), which was disappointing. It was also too bad that the video was not full screen as I'd anticipated. There was approximately 35% of the screen around the edges that went unused and the image was slightly crooked. Was this the same at all theaters?
Theater complaints aside, I really enjoyed the show. Escape is at Hand, Music @ Work, and Bobcaygeon were the highlights for me. It was really cool the way they made it feel like they were just showing you around the bathhouse. I'm glad I went.

Anyone else notice Gord Sinclair spew a fair bit of saliva singing Courage? That made me laugh!

theatre was full screen nice HD picutre, great sound. Really good show, depression is a great opener but hands down best bob c ever. Really hoping for a dvd release on this.

That was by far one of the greatest things I've ever seen on a movie screen. I was at the Chinook Theatre in Calgary and the place was pretty full. The new songs are incredible live. The Depression Suite is freakin' epic, and I got chills during Escape and The Last Recluse. That house is amazing. That's gotta be the coolest place in the world to record an album. Such a comfortable, laid-back atmosphere. It was a treat seeing all the original album artwork decorating the walls. They should charge admission just so Hip fans can walk around in there and take it all in.

My buddy and I made the trek from Timmins to North Bay to catch the film. Well worth the drive! Loved Thompson Girl and The Depression Suite sounded amazing live. How cool was that to see Gordie sing Bobcaygeon while playing pool? I wish it was just a little longer with more questions. About 30 people in the theater everyone clapped after songs. The manager even let me take home the large promo poster as a souvenier! What a great way to kickstart a new album!

Here in Victoria the sound was great. The picture a bit dark at first, but it seemed to get better, or we just got used to it... Man, Music@Work was incredible. Same goes for Bobcaygeon. I'm wondering how they mic'd Gord for that one, strolling around the pool table? I didn't notice a lapel mic, so maybe from the ceiling? Makes me wonder how they got such great sound in general. Do they ever inspire me to write more music and do more jams with friends. Wish I had the Bathouse, the Loft in particular Smile

Anyone know if there are plans to release a DVD of tonight's session?

Re: The Tragically Hip - Live and Intimate from the Bathouse Stu - thinkdontpray - 04-07-2009

words cannot describe how truly amazing that was. the best movie going experience ive ever had. met up with some fellow fans before the show, had a few drinks and tokes in the car before hand.

anyways, one of the guys i met snuck in a very nice handycam and shot the whole thing from the back. anyways, he's going to email me when he gets it converted and looking as best he can get. i'll report back with details.

Thanks to everybody who had anything to do with bringing this to the theatres. Just an awesome experience. Gord keeping accurate score while playing and singing was a highlight. Thanks again Hip.

Simply Fantastic. I am not sure what I was expecting but this was stellar. I have to say that this event/show was one of the "ballsiest" things I have ever seen a band do. What a logistical and technical feat! ALL songs were done really well. The mixes were sometimes a bit off but I think most people can understand the craziness of doing a completely live show, on the fly, with seperate mixes in every room that the band played in (four).

For the record I was at the Windsor showing. I was pleasantly suprised by the fairly large turn out. I am guessing 50-60. Not too much clapping after songs though but everyone was digging it. Sound was good but far from perfect. Yes Gord's mic was too loud in a few spots. My guess is the loft and the first studio room were complete board mixes. The pool room and the kitchen were probably a couple high end compression mics in the ceiling. Downies vocal in the kitchen was a SM 58 though the board.

Congratulations to the band! This was the classiest and coolest thing I've seen a band do. Hopefully they will indeed release this on dvd with a little better mix.

D Suite, Thompson Girl were great. Escape was epic!!! Gords vocal on that one was simply incredible... Great story before that song too.

Great Waiting List Wrote:I was really worried he was going to forget a lyric or something. I should never doubt Gord Downie.
It looked like he almost forgot a line during Thompson Girl.
