yeah i feel the same way, but each time i play the album (which is constantly) I tell myself I'll skip it....then it comes on and I can't bring myself to hit the skip button. Shit dunno....maybe I'm a closet In View-er. What an album!

You're not alone... I'm waiting for lunch to pick up the new CD and then start the listening sessions until the Horseshoe.

As for World Container, I love the songs I heard during the summer. If the rest of the album is half as good it'll be a keeper.

As I just said to a friend ... It's not that I don't like In View ... it's kinda like I hate myself for liking it. So, despite what I wrote, it's not really miles behind everything else, but it's in its own universe. They lyrics are too stupid to live. (except for the dry eraser part, but the phone rings stuff kills even that).

Meanwhile, the Drop Off is Drop Kicking me in the face and World Container rules the world and Yer Not the Ocean is really swell (get it? Ocean ... swell ... get it?)

Ich verstehe nicht, this "horseshoe". What means it?

Aaaahhhhhhhhhhh it's finally here!!! I went out on my lunch to pick it up and have it cranked in the office right now while the boss is out. I'm only half way through it, but so far I love what I've heard. I think Ocean and Rink are an awesome opening combination. Could this turn into my favourite Hip album ever or am I just delirious with the initial excitement?!?!

I've been listening this album solidly for a week over thehip.com stream and I like it today even more than I did the first time I heard it, and I though it was excellent upon first listen last Tuesday.

I rushed home after work today, waiting to be greeted by my very own copy of World Container.

I pulled in the driveway, parked the car, ran around from the the mailbox and...

there was a freaking note from FedEx informing me that I must pick up my "undeliverable package" tonight AFTER 5:00.

Sometimes I think that the higher powers are out to get me.

Early impressions:

Great songs. Nice to hear the Hip stretching out a bit stylistically too.

Production is very, very slick. The vocals are massaged (pitch control is all over this thing) and there's a background 'pad' to everything (it seems to be concocted of acoustic guitars and, perhaps, synths?). The sound, then, is very 'of the moment,' i.e., it captures the rock and roll sound of the hour. which is very much a high-energy pop/rock kind of sound. I understand the parallel to 'Fully Completely:' it sounds nothing like that album, but it's analogous, because that record also had very commercial production values.

That, of course, is the problem. But I understand why people who listen to the radio like it: it sounds like the other stuff out there, so it won't make anyone uncomfortable. I'll be surprised if it doesn't do quite well.
