the reports im reading suggest he never was in cardiac arrest and rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.
sucks for Avery and the Rangers, but they're finished anyways.

Ya, you don't follow. I'm saying that if the Leafs were in the playoffs ( :lol: ), and they were up 3-0, you would probably be happy, and find it exciting.

But it doesn't mean that I wouldn't be a little bummed out that the other series were without any drama.

It's extremely disappointing to see the Rangers promising run seemingly come to such an abrupt end. The loss in Game 1 was obviously hard to take considering the Rangers had built a 3-0 lead in the game, but i have to say last nights came was the most heartbreaking. Even though they were down 2 games in the series, i still was confident the Rangers would be able to battle back on home ice much like they did in round 2 last year against the Buffalo Sabres. They threw everything they could at the Pens last night, but it just wasn't enough. That Ryan Hollweg penalty late in the 2nd period, which Malkin then scored on the PP to make it 4-3, that was the dagger. The Rangers had all the momentum until that point & had the Penguins on their heels.
Hopefully the Rangers can at least win tomorrow night to avoid the sweep (not to mention pad my hockey pool stats)...i'd love if they could extend the series to 5 or 6 games, but even a very optimistic fan like myself, i still don't see scenerio which involves the Rangers beating the Pens in 4 staight games.
I do have to give props to Jaromir Jagr last night though, that was one of the best games i've ever seen him play. If it wasn't for Martin Straka being seriously snake bitten last night, Jagr should of had a lot more than 2 points.
Oh well, at least my option B is looking pretty good right now, the Dallas Stars :thumb:

Halak is getting the start tonight, we have to win tonight, this is too much! I really hope this doesnt blow up in our faces, Halak is a good goalie but he's barely played the last two months. Im nervous as hell........

Well it was a good run to the playoffs, I think this is it for Montreal. Its been said anything can happen in the playoffs and its so true (for all sports really) Montreal owned Boston and Philly all season but struggled in the playoffs. Biron is hot he's been the difference but we've had lots of chances but you have to raise your game in the postseason and bury your chances we havent done that, too many mistakes and the power play has gone south, a bad combo for any team. But its a young team and maybe the pressure is getting to them, Price had some real brilliant moments, he has a bright future next year he'll take this team and carry them far Im sure and hopefully the young players will learn from this and take it with them. I expect some changes for next season, I hope Gainey doesnt decide to rest on his laurels, this team needs a consistent scoring threat from the wing or centre, the Koivu era has to be coming to a close soon, maybe its time for a new leader?
Maybe Im writing them off a little early but I just dont see a way back even if we win in game 6..please prove me wrong!
and Carbs for the Jack Adams!

Looks like Montreal won't come back, but let's face it: this is not about burying your chances, as if you can somehow overpower the goaltender by sheer force of will. Montreal has outplayed the Flyers in the series, but Biron has been amazing.
And tonight the Flyers got a big help from the ref, with that ridiculous "interference" call.
As for the Koivu era ending, if it wasn't for Saku, the Bruins would have finished off the Habs.

I don't think they should try to get rid of Koivu.. I don't think he expects or feels like he should be a top line winger anymore.. If they decide to keep him as a second line player next year I can guarantee he wont complain. Just because he didn't have as good of a season this year as years past doesn't mean he's still not one of the greatest leaders in the game. He plays like a fucking warrior and his presence and work ethic definitely rubs off on the other guys. he's been Montreal's best player since he's returned and with a broken foot no less.

Even though they lost tonight, I've really been impressed with the Stars in the playoffs so far. Brendan Morrow is an absolute warrior and leader, Ribeiro is playing great, Modano has rolled back the years, the rest of the skaters are doing a great job of playing smart, team hockey, and Marty Turco has been a rock in net. I like just about everyone else sold them short going into the playoffs, but now I think they have a real shot of going through Detroit (since I don't see the Wings losing to Colorado now) and winning the Cup again.
Though I think Pittsburgh will have something to say about that. It will be interesting to see what happens when the Penguins are faced with some adversity in the playoffs, but Fleury is playing very well in net and the team is playing so well and with so much confidence, and when you're dripping with talent like they are, that's an almost unbeatable combination.

Perhaps I'm inadvertently proving your second point, but I can't agree that the interference penalty that led to the Flyers game winning PP goal was ridiculous. Begin hit that guy WAY late... you could have counted a good three Mississippi's before he decked him.
Maybe there were other plays that should have been called penalties but weren't, and given what I've seen in many of these playoff games I would tend to agree. But if you strictly argue the merits of that given call, then I'm afraid the refs were spot on that time. You can't take a run at a guy that long after he's passed the puck. Don't blame the refs, blame Begin for a major-league brain cramp on that play.

It was ridiculous in the context of what hadn't been called in that same game. Begin hit him late, but there was all kinds of shit going on that could have been called. Begin's hit didn't affect the play, didn't stop him going for the puck, etc. Meanwhile, the Flyers were doing all kinds of clutch and grab in the slot, which wasn't called.
The big problem with the officiating is that it is so frigging inconsistent. The refs let something go all through a game and then suddenly call it.
