mgm deal -
nohochin - 02-05-2007
Yeah, but, fyi, to get the deal you have to be a member of the Players Club. Go here to sign up for it:
https://www.playersclub.com/
Then go here:
http://www.mgmgrand.com/accommodations/ and click on "check room rates" at the top.
In the "promo code" box type: SDM022
The promo rates will come up on the next screen.
In my case, since I am flexible (traveling w/o the wife), I am actually staying in two different places (Bally's on March 21, MGM on March 22), in order to get the best rates possible. (Bally's is cheap on Wed, not on Thurs., MGM is vise versa).
Let me know if you want any help getting a room set up for other days, I am VERY good at finding deals for Vegas. (I go there about 3-4 times a year).

Seating -
nohochin - 02-07-2007
Hey Dave, seating is only available in the balconies, which, to me is kinda pointless, since you will likely be standing anyway.
I recommend getting GA tickets, which is the entire floor area (right up to the stage).
The HoB holds about 1500 people I think, and last time I saw them there (02), it was about 2/3 full, so you could walk up to the stage pretty easily at any time.
Hope that helps...

Also, I forgot to mention, the GA/Floor tickets are cheaper ($25) than the balcony seating ones, which are $35.

Well fellow hipsters, my month is going as planned I am not booking until I officially reach my goal, but when I do, if you see someone from Milwaukee, it will probably be me!
I can't wait! Vegas can be trouble, is it expected to be a sell out? If so I may need tickets if anyone has extras.
I want Emperor Penguin played!
sell out? -
nohochin - 02-08-2007
I really doubt the show will sell out, as of today there have been less than 200 floor tickets sold, and I would estimate that the floor can hold about 800 or more people.
You gotta ask yourself, how many people are going to be able to make it to Vegas for a midweek gig? Especially since The Hip is doing their US tour AFTER the Canadian tour. I would suspect not NEARLY as many people will make the trip down from Canada as the past few times they have played in Vegas.
I could be wrong, but I would suspect that the venue will be roughly 3/4 full.
NOTE: don't get me wrong, I would absolutely LOVE for the show to sell out, nothing beats The Hip at a small venue packed with CRAZY Hip fans.
As a sidenote, there are a tonne of Canadians that live here in the Bay Area, so their show here will likely sell out. Also worth noting, the venue, The Fillmore, is amazing, and totally worth checking out if you can make it, pretty much EVERY band has played there. I am hoping for 2 encores here again...

Hi all...I'm making the trip down to Vegas from Halifax, Nova Scotia. I may be making a solo journey as my friends are having difficulty getting time off from work...Oh well, too bad for them...I'm going anyway! Hopefully I can hook up with some fans for what should be a good time...my favorite band in one of my favorite cities...Vegas trip number 13!
hey! -
nohochin - 02-10-2007
Hey Jeff, great to hear you are gonna make the long trip down! Wow, my flight is less than an hour, you must be what, 5 hours?
I am flying solo too cause my wife can't make it either (midweek show). Maybe we can meet up or something. I am flying in at noon on March 21...

We'll theres 6 of us now going to Vegas out of Buffalo, The last two grabbed tickets thru ticketmaster last Monday and got section 202, can't get GA on the floor because of short people that can't see, anyone know what I mean, so we now sit in the balconies, it's so bad that a couple of years ago at Wasaga Beach, which was probably the best show I have seen yet we had to build a mound out of sand so Carol could see and we were like 20 feet from the stage...short people

Have you ever been to the HoB in Vegas? The floor area is quite small. I am pretty short (5 foot 7), and have no problem seeing the stage from the floor.
I get what you mean though, sometimes the path of least resistance is, well, the easiest.
:-)
Have a great time at the show!

I know what you mean Ian, I am short also, but got the florr, and will just have to get close (early). It worked out good for the Calgary club shows.
