It was my immediate fave off IBE, and still is. Like Sam said - no adjustment period whatsoever, probably because it's style is somewhat of a throwback to "classic rock", if you will.

Personally, i don't see how one could be a fan of rock'n'roll in general and not like Gus....

Gus has a sonic quality that only the Hip can provide. That’s why I love it, the solo is good too!

How can you not LOVE Gus??? Oh my god, not only did the band play it in toronto twice in 04 but i beleive they played it every other night of the tour...its definetly a band fav and Is a fan fav too....Its incredible!!!!
Also, it is NOT a single as someone said and I am a 15 year + fan of the hip and I LOVE IT. Its not a 'new fan' kind of song....ITs Just AWESOME! 8)

And, they played Gus at the Grey Cup Halftime Show. That's the first time I've ever watched the Grey Cup.

I was hoping that one of them would flash their nipple ala Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl, but no joy. Well, it was awfully cold so I guess I could see why they wouldn't want to.

It didn't take me that long to get into...I got into it right after I got into Scar.

I know (think) they released Nashville and Summer as singles, but in Winnipeg, they started playing Gus instead and it got hella popular. You could hear it several times a day if you listend enough.

- j-monster - 01-25-2006

I like Gus a lot... it just has that "nasty, dirty" groove... and that's a good thing! Big Grin

- opiated - 01-25-2006

i didn't like it at first..in fact it was probably one of my least fave hip tunes in a long time..but it really has grown on me, especially live versions..

- downie_24 - 01-26-2006

Same here, not one of my early fav's but I do like it now. Makeshift and Copenhagen were definetly my 2 fav's and still are.

I love Gus, I liked it the first time i heard it, it is a great song to sing, especially driving home after a brutal shift, gets the rage out...i wish i could say it to my patients "WHATS TROUBLING (fill in name) YOU SOUND DEMENTED" LOL crosses my mind at least once a shift!

Everytime I've seen them when Gus is in the setlist, I go for a smoke.

- Starpainter - 02-11-2006

Really? They had Gus as a single?

Out in Peterborough they played Nashville for a while and then Scar.

Oh, and I love Gus. Though Josephine/Meanstreak/Are We Family are my favourites on the album.
