Alex, first I'll say that i certainly don't want to discredit your work, because it's looks pretty cool, and I know that alot of time and effort goes into graphic design.

But I think part of the reason Trips reacted like he did (and props to him for backing off) is that it was just a little unclear as to what the pieces really were - i know you flatly stated that it was done in Corel Painter, etc, but I guess the word "painting" is what threw me off a little. I realize it's an artistic process, and I realize the program emulates actual "brushstrokes", but, (and correct me if i'm wrong), it's essentially a digital enhancement / treatment of an electronic photo image, then printed on an inkjet or laser printer? Maybe instead of "paintings", you should call them "prints" or something ....else? i dunno...

and seriously...not trying to be a dick....but does Shannon W get some roaylties from a sale of that 2nd one? Which, by the way, is a great shot....

I think I have to agree with you on this one "The Horrible Esthete," I am not sure if I would call them paintings either. Of course I don't have a good suggestion of what they should be called (treatment is a fair term that is typically thrown around), but not a painting. If you are applying your "brush strokes" to an image in Corel Painter and then having it printed, it is a print.

And upon viewing the original post, I asked some of the same questions that have been brought up already. From the pictures that you posted originally, it does look like this was something done through a filter in Photoshop. Illustrator CS2 has a very precise new feature called Live Trace that can do something very similar to the original pictures that were posted. Upon viewing the secondary pages, it is clear that this wasn't just another filter applied to an image in a computer program.

I am not trying to discredit anyone here but when you are selling something, you have to be very clear with what the product is or be very understanding of people's criticisms.
