The Paris of the Prairies...that's central. (and relatively close to me)

The Regional Hipbase Conventions may be the best way to start off a gathering of Hipbasers. When the Tragically Hip tour Canada next year(in assumption), we could book a room at the ACC in Toronto where the Ontario Hipbasers would gather, and the MTS Centre in Manitoba for prairie fans, and likewise for every other major stops on the tour. These conventions could be held several hours before the Hip take the stage, so we could make some friends, share some stories and get pumped up for the concert.

I think meeting at a bar is probably more within our collective financial grasp.

And although it's never been official, at every Hip show I've been to I make it a point of meeting other Hipbaser's. At Wasaga Beach last summer, Hugh23 just about organized a Hipbase convention. Hugh23 and his wife, D-Man, Stephen Dame, ShannonW, Man-Sized Eldorado, Dyersbay and her friends all got together.

I do like the idea of formalizing it, and planning so that we have enough space for everyone. At least November's ACC show, I had planned to meet a bunch of other Hipbaser's at The Loose Moose, but it was too packed for us to get in, so the meeting never happened...

Planning is a good idea.

You're probably right Chris, a bar would be easiest. Im glad this topic came up, I was hoping the next time the Hip toured, (and Im directing this to my fellow Ontarians for the most part), that we should have a proper meet-up and that we should try and get our tickets together..I know there has to be some trust in this, I wouldn't just give my money to a complete stranger or someone I dont trust. But I think there could be a way to have "certain" individuals purchase tickets and have Hipbasers pay that person ahead of time to secure their ticket and we could all sit together and since most of us are likely to get the best seats with pre-sales and such we could hopefull take over a section of the floor, maybe Im dreaming... I think it would be a cool thing to do, but I dont know is this a dumb idea? Too risky? Cant work? I suppose a secure transaction using paypal could work if used through a proper channel, like say a reputable website? Maybe its a pipe dream, but I just thought it would be cool for a bunch of Hipbasers to totally take over the first few rows of a hip show in Toronto and have a blast! The same concept is working great for PJ's Ten Club, its another way a proper Hip Club/Fan Club could work wonders for us, if done in the same likeness. Its cool to know the best seats in the house are all members of the fan club and really want to be there. Eliminates scalping as well.

It should be annual. And in a different location each year. The first annual would have to be Toronto OR Kingston. Now, what would some of the workshops at this conference be? Billy Ray could lead one of them.

Not to fluff the Southern US..but
I will say the show in Asheville was amazing in the sense that
there was probably 800 people in a venue that fits 1500. The only
problem was a homesick, lost and wayward son who jumped
on stage to piss the boys off so we got gyped on the encore..
but that's another matter..

The weather is warm, pretty cheap - and wouldn't it be nice to have everyone in an environment totally unique and bizzare..

Although, if it was at the Holiday Inn in Bobcaygen..I would totally road trip..just cause.

Rent someplace in Bobcaygeon with a big field that everyone could set up tents.

And see the constelations reveal themselves one star at a time.

we should start up a meetup group

don't know much about it other than we should do it.

Wow this has been my pipe dream forever. My grand dad (RIP) left 1000's of acres (named Noggies Creek-just beside Bobcaygeon) and having this type of event has long been a dream hmmmmmmmmmm

Use it up
use it all up
don't save a thing for later
if there's music out there laying in wait
to pounce and drain every ounce if you
wait or hesitate
and music that'll help you be tough
and come together on more than Springsteen
though most days it's been enough
then there's music that can take you away
away
away
away

so use it up
use it all up
don't save a thing for later
use it up
use it all up
don't save a thing for later

if there's music out there staying away
to cry and drain every eye until
hatred's eliminated
and music that can help you feel great
and come together in 'the fictive dream'
with a kinda Randy Newman take
there's music that can take you away
away
away
away
Where we can jump to our feet, agape
cause nothing is cruel
and even if it is or way
indefeasibly cruel
we don't care because....
yer a fool
I'm a fool
yer a fool
and I'm a fool...
for music that can take you away
for music that can take you away
for music that can take you away
music that can take you away

Why Chris, you do not look at all like you do in your avatar.

The avatar is my off season look. During fishin' and huntin' season I really bulk up. I also rarely do up my fly.
