Teraflop:
one trillion floating-point operations per second, a measure of computer speed
90nm:
This one is complicated....
check out link... basically it means its some expensive and fast shit!
(hence why we think the ps3 will be 500.00+)
This new 90 nm (a nanometer is one-billionth of a meter) process combines higher-performance, lower-power transistors, strained silicon, high-speed copper interconnects and a new low-k dielectric material. This is the first time all of these technologies will be integrated into a single manufacturing process.

Wow, that PS3 is going to be some kind of machine, its a beast! And you can bet after buying a game or two, an extra controller and maybe some kind of peripheral you'll easily be spending a good 6-700 hundred bucks on opening day. A little too pricey for me at the moment, so Im 90% sure Im going for the new xbox now, that being said it will be a HUGE bummer to not be able to play Gran Turismo 5 on the new PS3, maybe in a couple years I can get one for less. I just hope they work out the bugs and whatnot this time around (both sony and xbox) I dont want to spend the 400 bucks and find out the power cord starts fires again or the processors are melting..whatever. Thanks for the info gratts! :thumb:

I do not own an Xbox 360.
But what kind of bullshit is this???
Microsoft is now selling a cooling device for the 360 for $19.99.
That is total bullcrap.
"Um, um, hi - Microsoft here - thanx for buying our 360 - it is a great system."
"Instead of a RECALL that would cost us millions - we are now selling this add-on to your system in case of over heating"
"Sorry about our shitty design - but please give us more money out of your pocket to fix your Xbox"

the acutal overheating problems with the system come from the power brick, not the system itself. I see this more as a gimmick or peace of mind for the consumer.
We acutally found out that most of the laucnh systmes (the couple out there that havent broke down yet) do not even work with this item

To our Xbox Community:
You've spoken, and we’ve heard you. Good service and a good customer experience are areas of the business that we care deeply about. And frankly, we've not been doing a good enough job.
Some of you have expressed frustration with the customer experiences you have had with Xbox 360; frustration with having to return your console for service after receiving the general hardware error message on the console.
The majority of customers who own Xbox 360 consoles have had a terrific experience from their first day, and continue to, day in and day out. But when anyone questions the reliability of our product, or our commitment to our customers, it's something I take very seriously.
We have been following this issue closely, and with on-going testing have identified several factors that can cause a general hardware failure indicated by three flashing red lights on the console. To address this issue, and as part of our ongoing work, we have already made certain improvements to the console.
We are also implementing some important policy changes intended to keep you in the game, worry-free.
As of today, all Xbox 360 consoles are covered by an enhanced warranty program to address specifically the general hardware failures indicated by the three flashing red lights on the console. This applies to new and previously-sold consoles. While we will still have a general one year console warranty (two years in some countries), we are announcing today a
three-year warranty that covers any console that displays a three flashing red lights error message. If a customer has an issue indicated by the three flashing red lights, Microsoft will repair the console free of charge—including shipping—for three years from the console’s purchase date. We will also retroactively reimburse any of you who paid for repairs related to problems indicated by this error message in the past. In doing so, Microsoft stands behind its products and takes responsibility to ensure that every Xbox 360 console owner continues to have a fantastic gaming experience.
If we have let any of you down in the experience you have had with your Xbox 360, we sincerely apologize. We are taking responsibility and are making these changes to ensure that every Xbox 360 owner continues to have a great experience.
This will take a few days to roll out globally, and I appreciate your continued patience as we launch this program. I've posted an FAQ that should address some additional questions, and we'll update it over the next few days.
I want to thank you, on behalf of all us at Microsoft, for your loyalty.

Its about time MS fessed up and did something about its dying consoles. Those things are failing at a terrible rate..(over 30% if you believe the web) while the PS3 is only failing at a 1% rate according to the same sources. Ive had 3 360's crap out on me and it really soured me on the system, so I went and bought a PS3. And its been perfect thus far, not even a freeze up, even though its expensive its a fantastic package, Blu-Ray, standard HD for all users, free online service and HDMI, it was worth the money imo. Too bad about the 360, I really wanted to play Mass Effect and Halo 3..maybe someday when they get all the bugs worked out.

Yes, fantastic to see that the Xbox folks are doing something about this problem. I was on my second premium system before I got me a shiny new Elite system (perks of managing an EB, I reckon). I haven't had one issue with the Elite so far (knock on cyberwood), and LK, Mass Effect is going to be the game of the year, I think. That is, if it ever comes out... they've been pushing it back for ages... gr.
