Maybe Road Apples was the only Hip CD they had. I actually think it's a shame they played Long Time Running - that's kind if a romantic song to me and something like that would ruin it for me.

Needless to say, we almost fell out of our chairs on "Pervert's Row". She danced to Three Pistols, Twist My Arm and, believe it or not, Long Time Running.

That's classic!! Long Time's a great tune for bringing out "the blanket". My vote would be for Fire In The Hole, wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

I'd say Grace Too or Blow.
But Thompson Girl has that line about Gord's nickle stack (five dollar bills?) that I always picture as a stripper reference.

- skippy the wonder dog - 03-18-2005

Thompson, Manitoba is a nickel mining town. The nickel stack is the smokestack of a nickel smelter.

When ol' Thompson Girl is walking from Churchill, i.e. isolated and alone, the nickel stack is the first sign of Thompson she sees poking above the tundra. Thus, recognition.

It also has rather obvious phallic implications. But to suggest it has something to do with stripping is a stretch, given the lack of other stripping references in the song.

I wonder what songs they played the first time they were in Minneapolis? (See Rob's comment on the second page of this interview):

Bah...cut him some slack...he's a guy, guys can take an exerpt from the Sunday sermon and attach some sort of sexual connotation to it.

I was born and raised in Sudbury....the nickel mining capital of the world and have lived in the shadows of the numerous smoke stacks which line the outskirts of the city and oddly enough the vision of weiner never did cross my mind when looking at them...I guess that's a good thing!

I hope everyone's head hurts as much as mine does today....damn Irish!!!

I think Yawning or Snarling would be a good stripping tune... the slow bluesy jam makes it ideal for that sort of thing.

I hate strip joynts. But now, whenever I pass one downtown, I'm going to think of that. Classic.
