to answer vicariousmartyr: "Swinging on a Star" was the name of the radio show, hosted by Murray McLaughlan - that's why that version of GBA is called the "Swinging on a Star" version. Gord D and Paul were in studio, being interviewed and playing a couple of ditties. Sarah Craig also played a couple songs, one them was called something like "Hurt" on which GD sang backup, and Murray McLaughlan played something called "Canadian Wind" or "Northen Wind" or something.

If I'm not mistaken, Paul and Gord also played Radio Show and Pigeon Camera on that show.

That show is SO great, and that's just one of the many reasons... if they just put GBA and Crack My Spine on the "unreleased" section of a Hits/DVD package, I'd be one happy dude.

I think I remember someone having a very large banner at the London PP pre-tour gigs at Centenial Hall that simply read 'Get Back Again' but they didn't go for it....

Does anyone else out there have the bootleg CD from that show where the cover is a hand drawn picture of the hip playing?

2. Montreal
3. Blonde Solid

They could make a great b-sides disc by adding to those three

You're forgetting one of my personal favs: If You Lived Here. And if you throw in "Bumblebee" I think you'd have a pretty kick-ass disc!

For any Blind Melon fans, this will probably ring true for you.

Get Back Again reminds me a lot of Soul One by Blind Melon. Both are real early band songs that never got released, both have a soft, accoustic sound to them, and both evoke a lot of imagery and emotion. Soul One finally did get released on the album of unreleased material that was put out after Shannon Hoon died. When I first heard it I could not believe how amazing a song it was and why hadn't they ever released it earlier...much the same reaction when I first heard Get Back Again in 96ish.

The common version of Get Back Again is the live acoustic set that Gord 'n Paul did (yes, has the clapping at the end). I've heard that there are other versions of the song out there, but I haven't come across them yet.

When I was talking to Bobby once, he said that they recorded Get Back Again and there was something about that recording that was just so perfect... everyone felt that they were so on 'n clicked like they had before. Then their producer told them it didn't record properly 'n they lost it. I can't remember if Bobby said they ended up giving it another go or not, but he said it was that frustration that they lost what they thought was the best playing of that tune that discouraged them from officially releasing it.

I can't remember the details... hope that's accurate enough. If not, someone will be here to cut me up soon enough. Smile

Couldn't have said it any better....i always felt the same thing...these songs are very similar in melody and passion. Soul One is (to me) by far the best song BM ever put out, and they have some incredible tunes...
