Who would you rather deal with:
1. guy who just smoked a lefty totally enthralled by the spectatcle of the Hip.
2. guy who just finished pounding a 26 of JD, puking on your shoes and trying to fight everything in sight.
Pretty sure I know which one I would pick.

I think its hard to go to a Hip show and not notice it. Is it a big deal? I dont think so, but for some I guess it is. Even if it is a problem for some, can you really stop it? People are going to do it anyways.

I think most people who go to Hip shows almost expect it. At the MTS show, Gordie barely sang two lines from the first song before we could smell it. It just wouldn't be a Hip show without it
But it's not like it is a constant odor throughout the concert. It comes and goes so it has never bothered me one bit. I found it worse sitting in a bar all night with everyone just smoking cigarettes.

It's a little different if the smell makes you sick to your stomach, and the guy behind you is generating huge clouds of the shit. Then it's not a matter of being uptight, as sticking the title "lighten up" on your post implies. It's a matter of having to leave before you puke on the poor sap in front of you.
Behavior at concerts isn't going to change, so I don't let it bother me. But I have to laugh when people deride drunks but can't admit that their own vices might be a problem, too.

We smelled it BEFORE the show. Right before the hip came on, like at least 10 mins, it was a STRONG smell. Everytime the door to the outside opened you could SMELL IT. It was like "I'm getting a contact buzz off the hip!" lol

There is going to be quite a bit of smoking at a Hip concert, that's a fact. I don't think there's anything wrong with people complaining about it though. I hate it when dumb f'in brainless pothead strangers come to me and ask if I want some. If I wanted some, I would have brought it myself. There are quite a few brainless morons at Hip shows. Like Sloan said, "it's not the band I hate, it's the fans". It couldn't be more true.

I went to the "Evening With" show in Edmonton by myself, and some dude beside me was generous enough to ask if I wanted some smoke, which I graciously accepted. I didn't bring because who the hell smokes by themselves at a concert? If that's a brainless then thank goodness for them!

i smoke usualy 3-4 time at the hips shows and am sorry if it bothers people, if you would tell me or notify the people who are doing it im sure they would smoke a few feet away so its not directly beside you.
