Very good self depricating joke though. I'm sure Mercer will make mention of it Monday, he was here in Ottawa for the protest yesterday as well.

I missed that clip. Is it viewable anywhere online?

As for Frum, SD are you a fan of his? I really enjoy reading his columns.

Oh, so he's Jessica Simpson?
Jessica Simpson is so clearly an act, i remember watching an interview when she first started out, and she didn't sound half as stupid as she does not.

Talk about putting on an act for the cameras.

As for Bush....I like him....but I don't think there has been a president that has said nearly as many hillarious things as good old George W.

Thing is, did he INTENTIONALLY mean to be funny when he said those things

When Reagan died I was reminded of how funny a guy he was. He was friggin hillarious!!!

I don't know if it's available online anywhere, but Mercer will almost certainly air it as a companion on his show on Monday,I'd expect it to be on the newscasts tonight as well.

For those who haven't seen it, or those who may not remember a time when Bush was soley famous for being a Presidential Candiate who didn't know the names of foreign leaders: Mercer informs W as he works a line of well wishers that Canadian Prime Minister "Jean Poutine" hopes he wins.

Bush, stands back, makes an "Oh, really?" face, smiles and says something along the lines of: "Well, I'm pleased to hear that. Prime Minister Poutine and I share goals and values, and I look forward to working with him...."

As for Frum, who it turns out didn't help with the speech (So kudos to some researcher on Dubbya's staff for pulling out that gem) as you might have guessed... absolutely not. Smile

It's not intentional that's what makes it so funny

I dont think Rick Mercer's show is going to to be back until the new year. Thought I heard that somewhere.

- prz - 12-01-2004

SD, I am shocked you and Frum are not on the same page. Big Grin

When is Mercer's show on?

The election is over. George Bush is still in office. Get over it people.

I thought the comment about the five fingers was funny.

I also would be ashamed to have anything to do with the jackass protesters. Do these people work? Why don't they get a life and do something constructive, instead of just yelling at anyone that isn't a stoner like them.

Who posted anything that would make you type that? Seems somebody isn't quite ready to put it to bed...

In some ways I agree, but we can't deny they have every right to peacefully protest anything they want.

If nothing else, you have to admire their persistence!

I don't know. I certainly don't admire anything about them. I think most of these protesters just protest to get their faces in the public eye, to get on tv or the paper. It makes them feel good about themselves for some odd reason I think. Maybe protesting is the only thing in life they are capable of doing, because working doesn't seem to be a thing they are capable of doing.

I have to agree with you there... many of these people fit the definition of "slacker". In mature democracies such as Canada and the US, there are much more effective ways to achieve change than grabbing a picket sign, screaming and making yourself look like a blithering idiot.

But hey, what do we know, right?

He said that when he came to Canada he was looking forward to meeting someone that backed him during his 2000 campaign. That he wanted to meet Jean Poutine. Smile
