This isn't so much a "little" irritant, but the President has already told the first lie of his second term and he hasn't even been sworn in yet...
When he was told Elizabeth Edwards (John's wife) had cancer, he did a double take, then suddenly his face dropped and he gave the standard "Yeah, I was told this morning. She's in our prayers." I was thinking...the whole world just saw you SHOW surprise...why not admit your aides were all too hungover to tell you?"

Ok, the big deal with this so-called lie is?? and I bet you were drinking the Bushies under the table!

I was just kidding. It was a lighthearted moment. I guess it didn't sound like it?

The fact that every album review of Teegan and Sarah's new disk dedicates 2 paragraphs to the fact they are lesbians. We get it, now how is the album.

This is small but still irritating to me: I get into my car, flip around stations and come across a pretty cool tune to stay on, the song ends then I decide to change stations only to learn that Hip is being played on another station and the song is almost over...then I realize that I could have been listening to the Hip the whole time rather than that other song that I only half ass liked.
Thats my irritant

I didn't know they were lesbians but that's probably due to the fact that I could care less about them. I thought they were, and still are, way overhyped just because of the whole singer/songwriter label. It's like anyone who writes their own songs is great! Well, I can write songs but they won't be any good. Just because someone is a singer/songwriter, that doesn't mean that they are any good! There still should be a standard songwriters have to meet!! There are plenty of crappy singer/songwriters in the world!
(anxiously awaiting vicious remarks from tegan and sara fans)

Underwear. I'll buy a 15-dollar pair of boxers and after about a month, they're holy and heading for the trash. But I'll buy a cheap little 5-dollar two-pack of boxers and the things are frigging immortal.

I don't really think they are "overhyped" due to the fact that they aren't enormously popular. Not that many people have heard about them. I saw them perform at the U of C and thought they were great. Not everybody's cup of tea I guess. Tiger, I am sure you like many bands that I think blow. I just don't know what they are yet.

I think they are overhyped because I've seen countless reviews of them that make them out to be the next Joni Mitchell or something. I have heard them and I gotta say I'm not a fan of their songwriting or the music. I respect them for what they do but don't think they are that talented. They sound like a band I would see at a local high school talent show.
Now, about some of the bands that I love:
The Hip, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Radiohead (but not the most recent stuff as much), Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Sarah Harmer, Alanis Morissette (I just know you'll be all over me for picking her

Jagged Little Pill alone is enough to love her but I like some other stuff too), Gord with TCOM
Some stuff I like:
Ron Sexsmith, Bob Dylan, The Tea Party, Holly Mcnarland, Blue Rodeo, REM, Rolling Stones, White Stripes, Loretta Lynn, Hayden, 54-40, Gordon Lightfoot, Aerosmith
Oh yeah, an irritating thing for me is having to listen to drunk, skanky 19 year olds yelling outside my building at 2:30 in the morning when they should be at home in their trailers overdosing on pills or something.

Well Tiger as much as I wanted to rip you I can't argue with any of the bands you listed. I like every single on of those bands (even Alanis). Have you seen the preview for that White Stripes DVD? Holy shit does it ever look wicked. Drops Dec. 7th I think.
Everybody go buy Neko Case's new album. It comes out tomorrow (Tues.). She is amazing.

I haven't heard much of Neko Case. I've heard that she's good but haven't listened to her yet. I hadn't heard about the White Stripes DVD until just now. I've heard that they tear it up live, which is pretty amazing stuff considering it's just a guitar and drums.

You have great taste in melodic-bordering-on-alternative music. I never hear any love for Blue Rodeo. They're one of the best Canadian acts out there today! And good call on Ron Sexsmith. What's your favourite album? Have you heard the new one, Retriever? I haven't yet, but my favourite album has GOT to be Whereabouts!

Don't mean to butt into the conversation but isn't Ron Sexsmith great? I'm not familiar with Whereabouts yet, I've been listening to Blue Boy and Retriever a lot lately - good stuff. :thumb:

What do you think of Retriever? Does it sound really different from the earlier albums? I have to save my pennies until after Christmas, so it'll be a couple months til I get to hear it.
You've GOT to get Whereabouts. It's absolutely brilliant. Almost all my top 10 favourite Sexsmith songs are found on that album.
