Thank god, after seeing Shania embarrass the country by lipsyncing last go round I was determined to avoid any halftime shows in Grey Cups to come.

I've been able to watch the Grey Cup the last couple of years on the YES network in upstate NY. I faintly recall seeing Shania, I'm pretty sure they just play a complete tape of the original CBC broadcast.

This is fantastic news! Scalpers... excuse me... "independent ticket brokers" are asking $600 for tickets in the paper, so I'll be gladly freezing my ass off on the Bank Street bridge for this one!

if this is like any other scalped event, just wait until close to halftime and they'll practically be giving tickets away. alternatively, if it's cold, just wait outside for someone to leave and ask them nicely for their tickets. a friend of mine had that happen to him once at a sporting event, you just have to hope they allow re-entry

Last year Sam Roberts and Bryan Adams put on a half decent performance. I think it was about two songs each, so we might get about 4 songs. I can see Scar, Poets, Makeshift and Darkest One (don't ask me why). Should be a good show for a usually great game. Can't wait

Good thinking... we'll have to give that a try, although watching from the bridge with the freezing masses does have a certain charm.

Going back to the question of how many songs, and more importantly, which songs...Shania played only 2 in Edmonton (2002) while Brian Adams and Sam Roberts teamed up for 3 last year in Regina. I would hope for 3 from the Hip this year.
The biggest issue is will they play older classics, or something new? I think the group has to swallow their artistic integrity and realize that this is one gig where their prime concern should NOT be "promoting the new album". Blow At High Dough, or Music at Work, or Fireworks would be appropriate. However, if they play 3 songs from the new album that 90% of the population has never heard, I can already here my narrow minded
friends commenting "they're the shits", "what the hell were they playing".

PS I suppose 1 out of 3 could be something from In Between Evolution...

PPS If they would have played last year in Regina (my hometown), like I was hoping, Hundredth Meridian and Wheat Kings would have been outstanding to here in good old Taylor Field.
