i saw them TRY titanic once in vancouver, but gord just couldn't get it right, and yelled "fuck it...we'll do something else"...i was upset, but it was kind of cool to see them laugh about it..did get to see it at another show..saw boots twice on the "evening" tour ( i think..i know i've seen it twice), and a kick-ass version of So Hard Done By in seattle complete with sax ( i think it was steve berlin on stage...not sure...but very cool, and he stayed on for a really tripped out version of NOIS with "jet" in the middle of it...).sorry..kind of went off there..

(by the way, if anybody has that seattle show on CD, i'd love to get my hands on it...was for the PP tour

Damn....you know, I'm not trying to rub it in, because I genuinely feel bad for you longtime Canadian Hip fans who long to see some of these cuts live. Until I stumbled upon this site, I didn’t realize how incredibly lucky I have been to see them so many times, in so many intimate venues. I heard all the Another Midnights and Trickle Downs and Opiateds twelve and thirteen years ago, and assumed all you longtimers had ample opportunity to see them in smaller venues scattered about Canada back in the day. I guess I was mistaken. Or maybe I’m just old.

Because it was so freaking spectacular, I have a crystal clear memory of hearing Emperor Penguin in Toledo during the PP tour. The image of Gord, his free hand raised up, oscillating, with that facetious grin and far-away look on his face while he sang “iiit’s a phhhhhysical impossaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhbility” will forever be etched in my memory.

I'm one spoiled bastard, I guess. Check this out:

I saw them do Trickle Down the first time they played The Newport Music Hall in Columbus, Ohio. The place was almost empty, and we watched the entire show from a pub-table which sat about twenty feet from the edge of the stage.

Gord still had hair then.......

I seen them do "titanic" in detroit during the "evening" with tour. I've never been a huge fan of the song (it's ok) but it sounded just fine. An yes, the version of Penquin at the toledo zoo was stellar.

Yup, on the evening with tour, the East scored big time...one show had 31 songs and Halifax had about 29 as well. Last time we heard a peep out of the band (as I've said before) but it was a good peep while it lasted.
